Not bad for the price, but I wouldn't recommend it

Sturdy stand. In general, the rack itself can get 4 stars. Reason for 2 stars: - Came with scratches - Had to reshape some parts with a file and dremel - Instructions are useless. It's just a chart, but to be honest it's just common sense - nothing fits together. I used my own tools as per other reviews but this product is obviously just a cheap knock off of a better product. Assembling takes too long

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Does the job for half the price

This is a simple roof rack design that looks very similar to others that cost $100 and up. The J-Brackets are easy to assemble and easy to attach to the vehicle. The included straps look pretty crappy and I don't trust them. Instead I use my own higher quality ties. However, this is a secondary choice as I bought the rack kit, not the straps. I ended up liking the first stand for the number one kayak, so buying a different one for the second kayak wasn't a problem.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Terrible, had to buy my own gear just to assemble it. It's really solid now that I've assembled it, but the hardware issued just doesn't match the thing and you should be ready to get about 16 of your own nuts and lock washers. All in all, this was one of the most frustrating and difficult builds I've ever done, and I'm pretty good at all types of builds and repairs. As I said now that I have them they are really solid and work well so I'm giving them two stars but that's just a bad product…

Important assembly tip!

Assembly was tedious but I was able to do it with the screws included with these steps. The problem is that the carriage bolts are held in place by the locknuts. The square bit under the thick bottom bracket head should fit into the square holes in the top of the crossbars to prevent the bolt from turning when the locknuts are tightened. To do this, the bolts must be pulled through the rubber pad. You can't do that by hand. Here's how I did it: I grabbed the wrench that came with it, laughed…

Durable and does the job.

Both for my 10ft 6in kayak. I use this rack on my 2004 expedition. Some have argued that the screws are too long. Bolt. My roof also has small indentations along its length for what appears to be rain channels. I placed the trunk above them to give extra room when attached to the crossbars. I use standard crossbars and they aid in towing the RV and land and return (round trip (300 miles round trip). I also used the straps that came with them. They seem very strong to me. My OEM ones Crossbars…

Be the first to get a Roof Rack Beer

Can you swear by a review? Because that's literally all I want to do after assembling all 4 of these FUUUUU-ING things; swear and drink, and I don't even drink. Pull the metal plate out of the rubber, half of the silver piece goes into a pole, after you return to this page to read the assembly ratings, you will get to the rating that says you failed kindergarten, if you can't understand it, cry a little, the rubber thing is put on the same bar, connect the bars, push the silver things until…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Better you have your tools and time.

Honestly, this product is one of the most poorly thought out, poorly designed, and poorly executed products I have ever purchased in my entire life. If I hadn't spent 2 hours putting them together and getting them working I would have sent them back (I assume that's the ratio they rely on to make money). a wrench of two different sizes, a vise, a hammer, a razor, 2 hours, real injuries and the patience of a Buddhist monk. and revise them. Once I had something close to the right shape, I had to…
