Not easy to apply and tiny little bubble

I have put on several kinds of window liner, this particular blackout included. I am not new to how these go on. I have never had so many issues trying to get the bubbles out. I'm not talking about the big bubbles these are like tiny little bubbles that do not smooth out. I installed this same liner in 2017 and I had NO issues. The door that goes to my media room has a window on the top half of the door and I wanted pure blackness. So this was installed on an completely inside window. It was…

Absolute darkness. best in my review

This film provides absolute blackout. Bright lights shining directly on it are visible slightly but if you need a dark room to sleep in this is your best bet.Installation tips: - Two people! I have applied these films myself to small windows just fine, but the whole process is MUCH easier with two people. If your windows are more than, I'd say 24" in either direction, have someone help you pull the backing, apply to the window, and cut. - They're spot-on in the instructions--use a lot of…

Pros
  • Non-adhesive, making it easy to clean and maintain
Cons
  • The film may develop wrinkles or creases over time

Excellent blackout film, just make sure you're prepared!

This stuff is amazing - it really gets the job done! We're night owls and often sleep during the day, so blackout film was a no-brainer. We also have a couple windows in our bedroom and living room that let a lot of sun in anywhere between sunrise and 3PM, so we needed something thick and high quality. If you're in a similar situation, this is the product for you! It's durable, stays in place, blocks almost all light (on the brightest days, only a faint grey glow comes through), and can be…

Pros
  • Can be easily removed without damaging the glass
Cons
  • Can cause damage to windows with improper removal

I work 3rd shift and used this to block out all the sunlight in my bedroom so I could fall and stay asleep easier in the day. It works pretty good I recommend it for any 3rd shifter looking for the same purpose.I say it blocked 99% of the light but you can see the sun through the tint but with blinds or a curtain you would never know its there. My room is pitch black when I sleep and that's all that matters.Tested it with all the lights on inside the room at night from the outside, couldn't…

Pros
  • Protects furniture from fading caused by harsh UV rays
Cons
  • Installation may require additional tools or equipment

Looks fantastic after a little trial and error

The instructions that come with this are really very good. If you follow them, you should end up with a really great looking window. The only issue I had was that I was trying to put on a long piece by myself, and separating the film became an issue. I ended up screwing it up and having it fold on itself, and wasting a bunch of it. After that, I realized that you need to use some clips or clothes pins to hold the film up while you separate the film if you're putting it up by yourself. Keep the…

Pros
  • Had no problems installing
Cons
  • Difficult to stay up but very dark so I made them work

Definitely blackout

Installation is pretty simple: Clean the window with some soapy water, dry it. Cut the film to roughly the same dimensions. Remove the protective film from the blackout film so you can get the sticky part. Spray the window with more soapy water, spray the sticky side of the film with soapy water and then apply to the window. Use the squegee to push the water out to the sides and bottom. Essentially if you've ever done a "Wet application" screen protector this is that, just for a…

Pros
  • Multiple sizes available to fit any window
Cons
  • May be difficult to remove and clean once installed

I would give it 5 stars except for the problem with insulated windows. Luckily right now I live in an old house with original windows, or I would be in trouble. When I move, I will have to be sure to find a house with the bedroom window on the north to avoid this issue. As for blocking the light, I love the stuff! But these reviewers that are saying it blocks the light COMPLETELY had better take a closer look.I can easily make out the outlines of buildings, and even the shadow of a tree! It is a

take your time and it will come out great

This stuff is fantastic if you follow the directions and are patient with the install. It adhered better and is easier to cut than other films I have worked with as a DIY, non-crafty homeowner. It also comes with a razor and squeegee to help with the process. When you cut the film, it doesn't snag or produce jagged edges when done right.I found that using a spray bottle full of soapy water works well with generous application. A hairdryer helped after re-positioning the film following cutting…

Pros
  • Easy to clean and maintain
Cons
  • The film may discolor or fade over time

A little tricky to install - but does the job

I purchased this to black out a double-hung window in my grow room to block any light during the flowering period. It was a little tricky to install for sure, but it does a great job. Depending on how much care you take trimming it can leave a little glass showing on the edges and it might be fine for your application. For me I need it 100% dark so I just covered these areas with black tape. Getting all the bubbles out can take some time too. I did not need a real finished look so I did not…

Pros
  • Great for bathroom and dressing room windows
Cons
  • May require professional removal to avoid damage to the window or frame

cheap and easy: my feedback

this fill allows for almost total darkness (great for night shift people like me). Though after nearly a year, the uv rays of the sun is starting to break down the black pigment

Pros
  • Budget-friendly solution for enhancing privacy
Cons
  • May require professional installation for optimal results

Worked well for years

Used for my windows. It lasted me years with excellent adhesion and after I was done with it I pulled it off slowly and no residue remained.

Pros
  • Reduces glare on TV and computer screens
Cons
  • May not adhere well to older windows or frames

Really dark, works great

I have two dogs who love to look out my front storm glass window and they bark at anything that moves!. I bought this blackout film to try and block them from seeing out so I can finally leave my front door open. OMG it works great, they can't see anything and I can finally look out my door. I only put it on the bottom half of the door, but it comes with enough film to do an entire door or window if thats what you want to do. If you work 3rd shift and sleep during the day I would definitely…

Pros
  • Reduces energy consumption by reducing the need for air conditioning
Cons
  • May trap heat in the room during the day, making it uncomfortable
