Be careful when using, if the temperature inside the gas grill gets too high, the inner metal disc will expand, eventually causing the plastic viewing window to explode into small plastic fragments inside your grill. Hopefully in this case you don't have any food inside so you don't have to pick out bits of plastic like I did.

The entire body of the thermometer must be heated or cooled in order for changes to be registered on the dial, and that takes time. What's the time?
