The ESP32CAM is a tiny module based on ESP32 chip and OV2640. You can even program the ESP32CAM through the ESP-IDF by installing the ESP32 Core. The ESP32CAM equips the ESP32 with everything necessary to program, run and develop on the wonderchip. Additionally, the board reserved the MPU6050,BME280 and an analog MIC. ESP integrates WiFi, traditional bluetooth and BLE Beacon, with 2 high-performance 32-bit LX6 CPUs, 7-stage pipeline architecture, main frequency adjustment range 80MHz to 240MHz, on-chip sensor, Hall sensor, temperature sensor, etc. Fully compliant with WiFi 802.11b/g/n/e/i and bluetooth 4.2 standards, it can be used as a master mode to build an independent network controller, or as a slave to other host MCUs to add networking capabilities to existing devices. ESP32-CAM can be widely used in various IoT applications. It is suitable for home smart devices, industrial wireless control, wireless monitoring, QR wireless identification, wireless positioning system signals and other IoT applications. It is an ideal solution for IoT applications.

One of the two was good but only at 5.4v

One unit has a bad camera module causing each ESP to get very hot and not work properly. The other block worked correctly except that it doesn't work. Works with any of my 5V USB power supplies (even a 2 amp amp). I connected it to a desktop power supply just to be sure. It goes into shutdown mode when used with 5V. At 5V it still wouldn't boot and the current draw was below my USB amps. I gradually increased the voltage until it was 5.4V when it finally overcame the under-voltage protection…

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Cameras are offset 90 degrees compared to other more expensive versions. This can be important if you really can't make any proper adjustments to the final rendered product, or if you want the aspect ratio to match the desired orientation for large formats. For my use case as a camera for mounting on a 3D printer. Many of them. I have a housing and a mount for this housing that orients the camera in the expected way. Flipping an image is easy and most code examples have it, but few have a way…

Things I want to know

After watching the Dronebot YouTube videos, I was keen to try the ESP32-CAM. So I bought this product. (I hope Revain links this review to this particular product and not anything called ESP32-CAM because there is a difference). If you're new to these boards like me, be sure to check out Dronebot's YouTube video. There is an ESP32 CAM from AI-THINKER. It's double the price but bears their name and they seem to think they are fake. Fake or not, I was able to get them to work. Some other…

Documentation missing for product

This product comes without documentation, I had to contact the seller who just sent me a link to a personal website of a man in Europe experimenting with this product. . I was expecting the seller to provide the manufacturer's documentation so I could understand what this product can and can't do. There is no engraving on chipset board except ESP32-S, so you better search AI-Thinker ESP32-CAM on internet. Of the two modules I received, one did not work properly when flashed as instructed: the…

Is your device DOA? Here's how to check this.

There were two ESP32 CAM controllers with cameras in the package and both worked, contrary to some reviewers who did not. Here's a quick way to check if your device is working: First, you need to connect the camera's ribbon cable to the control board. To do this, lift the black plastic locking bar (see photo) and feed the cable as low as possible so that when you push the locking bar down to lock the cable, the bar covers the white line on the cable connector. . According to some other…
