The tensioner arrived broken and unusable.

One part of the tensioner was made of cheap, brittle plastic and was broken into several pieces upon arrival, rendering it unusable. Returned. Luckily, Pep Boys had a kit available (Melling, made in the USA).

Product Good but pin tensioner needed repair.

Timing chain tensioner was moved during transport. Difficult but not impossible to fix. Install the bracket and gently pry it into place and reinsert the pin. The rest of the chain and equipment are of good quality. The chain slap is gone!

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • OK

Great! for timing parts

I bought this for my 1997 Dodge Dakota 3.9L V6 Magnum engine. It appears to be much stronger than the standard timing chain kit. I installed it myself. Keep in mind that timing the timing chain will be a challenge once the tensioner is installed, but otherwise the truck sounded like a dream once installed.

Works like clockwork

The kit arrived complete and worked very well. My only concern is that the pin holding the tensioner was too small and I couldn't use it to install the chain. I had to remove the tensioner assembly, bend the shoe, and use a small allen wrench, which was much stiffer and easier to manipulate, to insert the chain and sprocket assembly. After assembly it fit perfectly.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Reliability
