Don't overtighten!

A great little tool if you want to make a timing/camshaft tensioner for your VW or Audi 1.8t. DO NOT TIGHTEN! They're cheap plastic and if you overtighten them, they'll break. I ordered one and broke it, then ordered two more just in case. I broke another one but luckily the last one helped me get the job done. Be careful, besides this is a great tool!

Bait and power on engines and engine parts

Just now I received the product and it is different from the pictures. I ordered this particular one because I noticed that some people who have issues with this type of product have complained about the product having a silver zinc finish and no grooves on the socket. Unfortunately the product I received is a silver zinc product. Coating.Hay, this product may still work. But the screw they used is of low quality. It may not be visible, but part of the top rosette is grooved and part is not…

Poor quality material

Material made for a week the block broke and the ear trying to flip the block to relieve the pressure in the hydraulic block not only broke the tool ear but also twisted and broke broke the ear of the upper part of the hydraulic block, now I have the tool is broken and I have to buy another tensioner. The tool must have some sort of stop to prevent it from rotating away from its base to prevent the hydraulic tensioner from braking. To order a complete block and other tooling from your company I

09 Jetta 2.5L in Engines & Engine Parts

Possible operator error but not certain. It fit and worked well, but it's plastic and broke on first use. Luckily he squeezed the hydraulic tensioner enough that I could get another tool under the tensioner and press against the chain, squeeze out the remaining oil and hold it out of the way to replace the crescent moon and gasket under the tensioner that were leaking. There are no instructions on how to do this, I've watched videos on YouTube and no one has mentioned how twistable the thing…

This tool works great **IF**.

**IF** you follow these rules: 1) The engine MUST be in the #1 Top Dead Center (TDC) position when running. On the other end of the head there is a small notch in the upper timing belt sprocket and another notch in the valve cover. Before removing the valve cover, align these slots by turning the engine on the crankshaft (a 19mm 12 point socket is used on the lower timing sprocket under the vehicle). Chain tensioner, although you may have to move slowly to allow oil to flow from the tensioner's

Did the job with no problems

I had one of these (different brand) a long time ago but as I was doing the job on a different machine I figured it would be best to have a new one juuuust just in case i need it. Turns out I REALLY need it, haha, that part of EWK gave me no trouble. You MUST make sure you are 100% sure that whatever brand you use, the tool is resting on a real brake pad and NOT a metal clamping bracket. It's very easy to put some pressure on the chain if you have a holding tool so you can move the tool away…

Pros
  • Great overall performance

  • Slightly dented

Success on a 2003 Jetta 1.8T AWP engine

This part number was used on a 2003 awp 1.8T engine. Works as it should. Be 100% sure when using this device that the plastic lugs are supported by the hard plastic that the chain rides on. This may require a slight movement of the chain. It's a very snug fit, but it moves enough for those ears to rest on the hard plastic. If you use this device without this step, it will break due to too large a pressure angle. Also lubricate the threads before starting. Turn around slowly. The chain will come
