Worked great right out of the box

I used a Guamar 5-in-1 external CD/DVD drive with my MacBook Pro to load music onto CDs for about 3 or 4 2 hour sessions. . It takes about 7 to 8 minutes to burn about an hour and 10 minutes of music to CDs. So after 50 disks everything works fine. The Guamar 5-in-1 seems to be an improvement over my old Cocopa external drive which is about 6 years old and is making strange noises at the end of the boot process. Time will tell if the high price is worth it.

More disappointment than anything.

The unit is a little less flimsy than the Hobest unit I bought as a replacement, but still relatively rubbish. He would NOT play a DVD I gave him (giving the wrong country code and without me fixing it) and read less than half the CDs I tried. The only good thing I can say about it is that it has a feature that lets you manually eject discs it can't eject (which I'm pretty good at after all) and send it back for a refund, which was no problem was carried out. FTR, I bought an Apple Superdrive…

Excellent DVD Drive

I liked a few things about the DVD drive. I like how it's plug and play. I didn't want to waste time or energy trying to figure out what software to download. I also like that it's durable. I also like the fact that there are two options: it charges via the computer's USB connection, or it charges via its own power cord. I haven't done heavy work with it yet, but I understand that having a separate power cord allows the DVD player to record and re-record, as well as perform heavier tasks easier

DVD drive great, manual bad

The drive itself works great. Management is confusing. May I suggest that you put a simple setup guide on the front page. First, make sure the DVD software is installed before connecting the drive. This information is there, but you have to read it to find it. I can see how someone can easily try to connect before finding this information. Also, I kept going through the manual, trying to figure out if I needed to connect both the data cable and the included power cable. I have not found this…

not "Plug and Play " - rather "Won't Play ".

It didn't work until now. We can't get it to play DVD. A window keeps popping up asking you to select a region for the hard drive. It's set to Region 1, which is where we are and the DVD is set up, but it won't play. This will prevent us from changing the region. If we just click to close it and try to play the disc, nothing happens. We tried restarting the computer, but that didn't help. We try to use it on MacBook Air (OS Mojave) and MacBook Pro (OS Catalina). We contacted the company and…
