I have used this siphon several times and found that the piston head does not form a complete seal against the inner wall of the chamber. This allows air to flow through the piston and reduces liquid suction into the chamber, sometimes there is little to no liquid suction, other times it works great. I rarely write product reviews but the design of this item is flawed and I would caution others not to buy it and waste their money. Save time and money and buy another siphon. With this model, the small piece of plastic at the end of the tubing that blocks backflow while the tubing is being filled with liquid easily breaks out of the tubing end.
