I was confused at first as I wasn't sure if the date on the back is an expiry date or a manufacture date. After a quick call to a very helpful First Alert service representative I was assured that it was the date of manufacture. Very relevant date on it. And it's made by First Alert.

While I hope the alarm never goes off, I really like the fact that there are different alerts (sounds and lights) for different issues (low battery) , end of life, malfunction, CO). It was very easy to install. And the 10 year guarantee is great.

This detector fits the mounting screw pattern of the replacement unit, eliminating the need to drill additional holes in the wall. Unfortunately, like most, this device is currently only available in 85dB, and there's a good chance it won't wake you up if you're sleeping in a different room. I have carbon monoxide detectors. I installed and followed the instructions to test the device. Tested OK then followed by one beep per minute meaning the battery needs to be replaced. ? I took the battery out and put it back in but it was beeping at a rate of 1 per minute. Disappointed that I had to buy new batteries from the start.

We got this First Alert BRK carbon monoxide alarm simply because it's the same model that was already attached to our ceiling. We're grateful the same model still exists so we can reuse the same screw holes. However, we're very disappointed that the new alarm clock lacks a warning sticker to tell people what to do when the alarm goes off. This sticker should be on the side of the alarm clock.
