Great for projects

Great item for personal projects. I used this item to add a bottle cage to my bike. Take your time and get the right tools for each project.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • I will add later

Did the trick! in rivet nuts

I used these to replace the rivet nuts on my aluminum frame road bike. I chose aluminum nuts over steel because I was concerned that the steel nuts might snap through my frame's aluminum tubes if I squeeze them together to fit. I also thought it would be easier to drill out an aluminum nut than a steel nut if I mess up the setup or later strip the threads off the nut.

Pros
  • The best in the niche
Cons
  • Only available in black

Work normally as long as you are careful.

Aluminum seems soft but I have no comparison. The "bolt, nut and washer" installation method was used, and the top of the first rivet was deformed and pressed into the space left around the washer. On the second I used a smaller shim and less force and everything worked fine. Seems to be holding up well. So maybe practice once or twice before actually doing it and they should work just fine.

  • GOLS certified

Replaced the horrible water bottle screw inserts on my GF bike

The previous owner had all the water bottle screws rusting and binding which meant that trying to remove them destroyed the inserts and I had to pry them out with pliers. It was real pain. So got these new ones and replaced the ones that couldn't be salvaged and so far it's been great! I only needed one pair, so it's nice that I probably have enough in this bag for the rest of my life!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not the best

Simple repair of a loose water bottle holder on a titanium bike frame.

Now I know what "Rive Nut" is. I had a free bottle mount on the bike frame. It spun in circles when I tried to screw in a screw. I drilled through the center and removed it. I had to use a slightly larger drill to enlarge the hole in the bike frame. Insert a nut into the hole. I used a long M6 hex bolt and some washers to tighten the rivet nut all the way. I removed the M6 bolt and the rivet stayed in place. There are videos online on how to install them without special tools.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Not fashionable
