There are many reviews here that you can use a spatula or glazing tool. You can, but they obviously haven't worked much with 1/16" thin glass. You have to look at the construction of the tool, there are two bends so the handle is parallel to the point of insertion, which means all the force goes forward ( into the wood) and not down into the glass spatula too flexible glazing tool, the force angle is both down (into the glass) and forward bottom line does not break the glass also it is designed

The right tool for the job.

This tool sets the glazing points used to hold the glass in the wooden sash. If you're renovating or re-glazing more than just a window or two, it's definitely worth it. It works well with the regular jagged tip type as well as the traditional triangular style. The shape and design of the tool allows the tips to be inserted perfectly parallel to the glass without applying downward force to the glass like a spatula. Pressure points included with tool

This is a really great, handy tool to have around the house for framing. A few months ago I had a photo frame with one of those velvet backs that had pivoting clips that had to be cut into the wood of the frame somehow to hold the picture in place.
