Flexcut is gold among leatherworking accessories

I don't understand why Revain no longer allows photos to be posted with these reviews. That makes checking pointless. Anyway, I have a Tinker Swiss Army Knife that I recently bought that ended up getting a bit boring. I used the key sharpener that came with the kit and that stupid sharpener dulled the knife. I also ordered a Victorinox Dual Sharpener from Revain. Dual Sharp gave the blade a working edge but didn't refine the blade edge, so I ran the blade on a Green Elephant ceramic stick, also

My first sling. Wow, that's really amazing.

I have been sharpening my knives for many years and have never sharpened a blade so this was my first time. WOW everything I've heard about deburring is true, you really need to sharpen the blade just to keep it sharp by sharpening regularly. It definitely takes some practice to adjust the angle of the blade, the instructions in this process are a bit vague, but the best technique I've found is to hold the blade almost horizontally and slide the blade along the belt while the Blade slowlyโ€ฆ

Finally a sharp edge!

Great tool for sharpening knives and tools. After years of trying to sharpen knives with wet stones, whetstones, diamond wheels, sandpaper, and ceramic sharpeners, I finally found the secret to a blade that can cut paper. The edge and sides of the knife should be SMOOTH like glass. It's the roughness (even a very slight one) that creates the friction that grips the paper or whatever you're cutting, making it difficult to cut without pulling the paper out and stopping the cut. Cheap Baby Sling - Leather Goods Accessories

People complain about the quality and thickness of the leather on this sling but I disagree, I've had mine for about a year now and with frequent use it's holding up well. As for the thickness of the skin, this has never been a problem for me. The purpose of leather is to provide a soft surface for the polishing paste to adhere to. Yes, you can use them without a connection and they will work just fine, but I get much better results using them. You have to heat the line and melt the connection.

Pros
  • Crafts and Sewing
Cons
  • No Instructions

Fantastic for wood carving blades.

Very good leather belt. It would get 5 stars if it had: 1) a pen and 2) a flip pen. The honing paste works well but quickly switched to a higher quality paste - not that there's anything wrong with that yellow paste! I opted for green chromium oxide paste and (btw for the second band, one with a handle and on both sides) 1 micron diamond paste. I'm new to blade straightening and sharpening (so far I've only used the good old Arkansas Triple Stone for decades, but while it's GREAT for mostโ€ฆ

Essential for any homemade knife care kit

I've never bought slings before, I've only made them out of old snares and that doesn't make the job better or worse, but it really does make it better on a piece of wood attached so you don't have to pull a sling or find a flat surface to work with. The compound I used before buying the sling works great and removes a SMALL amount of metal from your blade, not as much as stones/files and is pretty easy to apply to skin as it's designed for hand slings and is not designed for a strap. orโ€ฆ
