Perfect for what I need it for! Not for a pet but as an easy border around my tree to keep little toddlers from touching the tree and moving around! These are two gates and I attached them to a stationary object on each side and also placed lanterns, garland, ribbon and burlap on top to hold the gate together. Thank god my dog is still a puppy and doesn't understand that just touching these gates with his nose will knock him over! The slats are not straight, but all curved in different directions. I read all the reviews on this product and noticed that several buyers had problems with the quality of this gate. However, as I wanted a freestanding, small gate, my choices were very limited. So I bought it with the risks in mind. However, I did not expect that the risks could include deformation and collapse without being touched by an animal or human after 3 weeks of use. The great thing about this product is that it can be returned. This is exactly what I settled on before it was half out of the box. You can also order scotch tape and three pieces of cardboard for posters. Two weeks ago I ordered 3 of these gates. When received the color was washed mahogany, the spindles were round and mostly warped. The frames were broken and deformed in several places.
