Type of review

There are a lot of 1 star reviews here and I think I know why. The product description says it works on AC, but the packaging clearly says DCEP/DCEN. They will NOT work on AC power. I can run about 1 inch and the arc just "turns off", it's almost impossible to restart. FYI I bought the same brand of E7014 and they clearly state AC on the box and they work great.

Pros
  • Arc Welders
Cons
  • Commercial Availability

The packaging was good and the rods arrived dry. I managed to get some clean beads but I waste more chopsticks than I burn. I tried turning on my machine and putting the bars in the oven as well. I bought another brand of poles from the local hardware store just to make sure it wasn't just me or the car and they turned out to work much better. So yeah, those bars suck. Better stick to Hobart or Lincoln bars.

You don't work for me.

They don't stick and burn no matter what current or how close you hold them to work. Dryer. And at this time of year it is very humid here. I assume they are wet. I should have paid more attention to other negative reviews. The 7018 electrodes need to be dry, and these (the 5 pound pack anyway) aren't properly packaged. Edit: I roasted 6 of these in the oven for 45 minutes and still nothing. No arch at all. My welder works well with 1/8" 6013 rods.

Pros
  • Welding and soldering
Cons
  • Very expensive

Absolute junk. Open the packaging and try to arc within 5 minutes of them being delivered to me in a plastic container and nothing worked for me. After trying 7 different sticks I gave up and went back to the Fire Power 6013. I used them. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the bars had been exposed to moisture before being placed in the case and shrink-wrapped in plastic. You must dry the poles before you can use them.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

I'm fine, nice welds!

These rods suit me. I mounted my little 120A DC inverter welder on a 3/16" pipe to test them. They are welded with the desired degree of penetration, the puddle is easily controlled, and the slag immediately flakes off. My welds look just like the professional welds you see in YouTube videos and I'm a total welder. I was having a really hard time restarting them UNTIL I discovered a trick on YouTube from a welding instructor: just give a quick scrape on a piece of sandpaper to clean the end and

Neat rod. - Rods

I try to stay away from Forney products not because they are bad but simply because they are average quality and price. Paid $21.43 for a 3/32 5lb box. Not very good, but at the moment I didn't feel like spending more on a large part of another brand. Usually my local supplier is the cheapest and they have Excalibur which is great but they didn't have 3/32. So the product came in a plastic box wrapped in plastic. I used a rod on a rusty muffler and new 16 gauge pipe. I cleaned the sweat area…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable
