With 7014 it is difficult to make a bad weld.

Excellent size rod for use with 120V welders Works very well with both AC and DC machines. All kinds of positions for steel. Chios Slag is light but usually falls off on its own. Requires no preheating. I would buy again and recommend.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Upgrade available

Good rods for your money.

After much research and trial and tribulation I found that they work fairly well for 14 gram galvanized pipe at + or - 80 amps at 110 volts with a DC welder. approx. There are 802 1/2 beads in this box so far. Looks like I have enough to finish this structure but will buy again if needed.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

What happened? - Arc Welders

Upon receipt the seal on the tube was broken, the plastic wrap was torn and only 4.2lb bars were shipped. Worst of all, the bars got wet. . I bought them because I will have them the next day, the nearest weld shop is over 50 miles away. You go to the stove because I have time because I cannot continue this work. Big disappointment.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I will add later

Good Quality - Arc Welders

The rods came dry and well packaged with no damage to the coating. As good as any small low current sticks I've used. The 7014 is a great rod for beginners and smaller welders of 90 amps or less due to its easy arc ignition and easy arc movement. I use them with a small, compact Harbor Freight inverter welder that I carry around in my RV for unexpected and emergency metal repairs.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

This is a welding rod and it works

The rods were wet when I received them and took me a long time to dry in my homemade rod oven, once dry they worked well , I think they've been in storage for a while. In comparison, the 7018 rods I ordered from the same seller came right out of the box so I think that's probably because they're probably selling more 7018 spinning stock faster.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Good but not great

Wrong welding rods

bought these rods before they were in orange packaging and they worked perfectly. Now they are in green packaging and it is not the same product. The flux does not come off easily and has holes all over the weld. tried drying them, no difference, called furney, they said they just changed the packaging, don't believe them. The orange box contained gray flux, the green box contained brown flux. And it's garbage.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Negative impression

Very easy to use, start up and remove slag

As a hobby welder I wanted to try it. Most of the videos you see on YouTube are about 6010/11, 6013 or 7018. I just came across a video about 7014 that I didn't know existed (hey, I'm an amateur welder!), and thought i could see it difference. I used to find it easiest to run 7018, but this one replaced it. Very low spatter, super easy start and very smooth arc. The slag can also be easily removed. On my Lincoln AC 225 I could run them up to 60A.

Pros
  • Welding and Soldering
Cons
  • Doubt

Much better than the cheap sticks that come with cheap welders

I am not a professional welder but I have done a lot of welding in my previous career (repairing farm equipment). Years later I wanted a welder for my home but there was no reason to spend $$$ on a good model. I have a cheap offshore car with poles. I wrestled and wrestled with these rods and thought I just hadn't practiced. Finally ordered these rods and BAM!, my welds are no longer sucking. Back when I only used shop rods I never knew how bad cheap rods could be. Lesson learned.

Pros
  • welding equipment
Cons
  • unreliable

Welding rod is good!

Bought these forney rods to test. If you use them with an AC welder, they're pretty good. The box was dated September 2016 so they were fresh. Each rod was fine, the flux did not chip off. The lugs were cut nicely, the hit was clean and stuck out a bit and went away. They're great for 1/8" hobby steel work. Not a professional welder by any means, but compared to Lincoln, Hobart 7014 bars I can't tell the difference with AC. Taking off one star for the plastic canister, too flimsy, not…

Pros
  • Arc Welders
Cons
  • Out of fashion
