Description of πŸͺ“ Forney 72417 Cylindrical Grinding Stone with 1/4" Shank, 2.5" by 0.5

Shank mounted points and grinding wheels are made from durable high grade 60 grit aluminum oxide. Perfect for grinding, polishing or deburring ferrous metals. Use with 1/4 inch chuck for high speed drills. Especially useful where larger wheels will not fit or where small abrasive wheels wear out too quickly. Max RPM is 3, 450.

Small but acceptable OD Grinding Wheels

I misjudged the size but the smaller diameter is safer at high speeds. However, wear your safety goggles. The grit is too coarse for blade sharpening, but useful for many other projects.

Pros
  • Abrasive and Finishing Materials
Cons
  • Expensive

A good sharpening stone

I used this to sharpen my metal drill bit. It sharpens well but is a bit unbalanced and the bit has to be rotated backwards or the whetstone just unscrews, falls off and breaks something.

Pros
  • Grinding wheels and grinding wheels
Cons
  • Many things

Incorrect assembly

These drills usually have left-hand threads for attaching the grinding wheel. I have used Forney tools before and they have been good. However, the one I received has a standard right-hand thread screw to hold the sharpening stone. which flies off the shaft as soon as the drill starts. So I do the drill backwards. This works fine, but I'd rather not.

Pros
  • Outside diameter grinding wheels
Cons
  • Minor problems
