So we looked for a good, strong stake to give her an illusion.

Bought for use with my 48lb Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix. She is very strong and loves to run so we were looking for a good strong peg to give her the illusion of freedom while we exercise in the yard. She is always supervised outside and I've never seen the stake swing (and that's after she tried very hard to catch a squirrel that was out of reach). It definitely took some time to bury it in the ground - we have clay and slate in the ground. My husband used a tool that he had to pass throughโ€ฆ

Low key and heavy duty mode. But be careful.

This screed does not come out of the ground. Period. But listen and be warned before you buy it. They should tell you that you need muscles and some kind of metal bar/bar. Depending on the type of ground that surrounds you, you'll have to rig this thing up with a heavy hammer. Once it's in place you'll need to put a metal rod through the loop at the top to screw it into the ground. Again, quite a bit of effort is required depending on the type of soil you're planting it in. I'm 220 pounds and I

Ideal for sandy bottom

I live in Southwest Florida and most pegs don't work here as the bottom is mostly sand. I live in a rental house and can't put up a fence so I was looking for another way to let my dogs play in the yard. That works great. It goes about two feet into the ground and since you have to twist it in the fins you really get great traction. My 65 lb pit bull, running at full speed behind the ducks that run through our yard, can't pull him out, nor can he bend down because he's completely buried in theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Holding my St. Bernard.

We have a pretty smart St. Bernard who figured out the fence fasteners. He secured them with padlocks and decided to break through the fence. Twice. It was clear that we needed a means of keeping him in line and also giving him some freedom of movement. Looking around a bit, we stumbled over a giant four-legged stake. Paired with a chain to leash a prestigious Superbeast it has held up for two months now and I have not had to replace a single fence post. Sunbeds only. The installation is quiteโ€ฆ
