The color isn't as deep purple as you think, but the wax is weird? I've used wax before but this wax is weirdly sticky and I don't like it. It still came out nice and did the job, but I would have preferred real wax. These wax sticks also don't have a wick, so they're cumbersome because you have to keep the flame on the wax the whole time.

Do not buy palm red. I thought they would be a great color to seal my Christmas cards - it looks like a lovely cranberry color. Which actually turned out to be reddish brown. The return process was easy and I opted for a different red so the experience was fine but the actual product was torn. The color was not correctly represented in the product images.

I like this kind of wax stick best, no wick. Without a wick, you stand no chance of black wax dripping onto your beautifully colored seal. It's also easier to work with than a wick when flipping/melting. Know how to "paste the wax" before you buy them. Also these sticks are not "real" red. If you use at Christmas, do not recommend them. Sticks without a wick are much easier to cut for melting in a pot.

I assure you that most of the negative reviews on this product come from people who have no idea what they are doing. It is not designed for a wick and not for a glue gun. Of course you can cut it, but it's easier to just put a stick on a hot spoon. They don't have to be shimmery, they're simple and more traditional.
