The filter media appears to be as good or even better than original equipment, but there are slight installation issues.

5 stars because the filter material seems to be of decent quality. One small issue is that the filter was a bit more difficult to install compared to the Toyota brand. The plastic air filter housing was a few microns larger than the old one, but so big that it couldn't just slide into the mount on the car without pushing it down, and then as it fell halfway I realized it was difficult to get it to remove. Fram Tough Guard Air Filter

I've used this filter before but the last time I changed air filters I couldn't find it at any of my local stores so I bought a standard Fram air filter. which I also had a hard time finding. The reason I prefer Tough Guard air filters is that they are oil impregnated, which increases the filters ability to trap dirt. I know K&N washable filters are very popular, but personally I wouldn't pay a penny for them. Why would anyone remove an air filter, wash it, wait for it to dry, and then spray it

I ordered 2 of these filters for my 96 4Runner SR5 as I have used them before and thought they were good. Well, as someone else said, they may come in a Tough Guard box, but these aren't Tough Guard filters, which are "yellow filter paper and oiled" in a black rubber case, they're "Extra Guard" which "white and dry" are ." in the same building.
