Other than that I'm not sure but I've had 2 other methods of checking nitrates. API Set and Tetra Strips. Both told me my water was around 30. This test showed 0. After you broke the seal, the expiration date printed on the bottle was significantly reduced to a few months. I will not buy again.

Never detects nitrates or nitrites. Useless as I didn't want to buy multiple aquarium water testing products from RES. Doesn't recognize copper, but copper is embedded in my turtle shell. I need to have my well water professionally tested for copper as it is obvious that our water contains copper.

I have been able to test this using two other brands of test strips and a liquid test kit and found the water readings to vary dramatically at times. I'm not sure if the metal readings are accurate as I haven't had a chance to compare them yet but I would definitely NOT recommend these strips for testing nitrates and especially general hardness.

I've never bought this brand so maybe it's an accident. I always test new strips with old ones and with the API master test kit. Old test strips simply tend to show less registered presence, ie. copper or nitrates. Both my old strip and the API test kit showed nitrate levels below 25ppm, but these test strips showed no nitrate at all. And also the tests have an oddly low pH compared to the other 2. I threw them away and threw the money in the trash.

Complete junk product. Instructions say read in 60 seconds. See photos - the left test strip is dry and one day, the right strip is 60 seconds. A wet streak has off-spectrum colors, e.g. B. dark green, but when they dry do they turn yellow? I have tested my aquarium, well water and river water (Osage River in Missouri). I compared the readings of this Ultimate brand to 7 other test brands I have. I compared this Ultimate brand to samples of my well water tested by our health department and a sample at the university for more parameters than our health department. Mainly because the colors don't match their image on the bottle very well. Please listen to other reviewers and don't buy this, it will only piss you off. I wish I could test them when they arrive. I would send them back in a hot minute! Not being 100% accurate is in the nature of the animal when dealing with test strips over a digital tester or a simple vial test kit etc. We know this.
