Excellent nozzle, typical Freudian quality

Excellent nozzle. Very sharp. No breaks in soft or hard wood if you take your time. Makes duplicating 3/4" pieces easier. Join the 2 pieces using the 1/4" template and knock out two at a time.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

No problems, works as described.

I use this tool to make tables and round table top corners. Works fine with no problems. Spring. (Walnut, Maple, Elm, Catalpa, Cedar, sometimes Pine) (Catalpa tips and a small pine top are visible in the photos) I rarely have any problems with this manufacturer.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • High Price

Just grab a spiral bit if you're not going to use it just once.

If you have small pieces about 1 inch thick, you should be done with that. I was trying to cut a 1.9 inch thick walnut and it was so scary because he wanted to make it fly and it happened twice. I would recommend getting a spiral grooving cutter instead, although it's 5 times more expensive it will be a lot cleaner and won't try to throw the wood out of your hands.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Expensive

Should have just gone to the cheaper Harbor Freight.

Bearing exploded within seconds of first use. I had to steal a bearing from one of the cheaper, shorter port freighters that wasn't quite the right size, but was close enough for my purposes. None of my cheap ones have done that. I think that's what I get when I try to buy the best, it ends up crap. It cuts well, but without bearings it's pointless.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Incredibly poor quality - avoid

After reading many reviews and falling into the trap of assuming the quality of the product based on its brand name, I purchased this piece. What a big mistake. I am making mission style cherry wood bedroom furniture as a DIY project for my wife. The lower stretcher will have very gently curved arches on 3 sides. I made a template from Baltic birch. Used it to draw arcs on two pieces of cherry wood that were .75" thick and 16.5" long. I used my jigsaw to cut these arcs almost to size leaving…

Oversized Stock of Cutters Parts and Accessories

I have dozens of Freud cutters and this is the first that has let me down. Bearing diameter and cutter diameter do not match. The stock is slightly larger so you end up with a 1/64 inch edge. With a shorter drill, the edge wouldn't be as much of an issue, but it took me close to two inches, so it took quite a bit of grinding to align the two end faces. On the other hand, the blade was sharp and cut well.

Pros
  • Cutters
Cons
  • Drill Kit

Great tool for the job

I used this on a Bosch router table to smooth the edge of wood. After getting the router table set up perfectly, I used it to plan about 400 linear feet of lumber of various grades. I then grabbed a router from the table and used it to cut the undercounter sink into a 1 1/2" thick butcher block oak countertop. a decent router to get the best out of this and other parts of Freud.

Pros
  • Power and hand tools
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Now I'm a firm believer in Freud's router bits

Incredible precision, makes trimming a pleasure. Now I really believe in Freud, after looking at some cheaper options on Amazon I gave this one a try and will never go back. I used this drill bit to make a straight edge on a 1.5" thick board and I have to say it was the sharpest edge I have ever seen. It handled easily even when I tested it with a nice 1/4 inch lip over the bottom rail. It was so smooth I almost didn't have to attach the bottom guide plate, which often required multiple clamps…

Pros
  • Straight, Spiral & Edge Milling Cutters
Cons
  • Incredible price
