Good system for GPS system. Accessory

This is the second of these car systems that I have owned now that my wife has found out she likes it too. I wish it came with a friction mount as the included suction cup/disc system can't hold the GPSr when it gets hot and the disc leaves a sticky mess on the dash.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Hard to say

Works as advertised.

An essential accessory if you want to take your Oregon on the go. I just can't find a spot on the windshield that I like. It's either in my way so I can't see it, or it's so far away I can't reach it - but that's the design of the car. However, the mount has good adjustability.

Pros
  • even old fashioned
Cons
  • Fits

Not worth the money

I can't get the suction cup to stick to any surface in my truck. And with my low backlight auto-dimming Garmin, you still can't see it while driving. I was afraid it wouldn't work if I didn't place the device on the dashboard with a clear view of the sky, but it works fine in the cup holder next to me.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Good but not great

Works but cumbersome to set up

This "Autonavkit" - which marketer came up with this? - Great for keeping the GPSr in place while driving. Once installed there is plenty of room to adjust and it will stay in place even on rough roads. The downside is that attaching the GPSr to the mount is cumbersome: you have to insert the device on one side by feel, then rotate it 180 degrees to attach the cable, and then install it.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • Nothing special about it, everything is fine

Garmin Car Kit: GPS Accessories

I love my Garmin Oregon GPS. I hate car assembly kits. The one I bought from Revain lasted 4 weeks and broke where the yoke articulates at the base. Same failure mode as the one I originally bought from Garmin although it lasted 2 years. This mount works if you have never removed the viewfinder from the mount. If you're a geocache hunter or traveler and often need to remove the GPS from the mount, this won't last long. However, I don't know of any alternative.

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • Some Imperfections

Great kit fantastic price

I bought this after reading some reviews. Many have commented that the mount is not big enough for the device or is difficult to attach. I had no problems with that. You might associate Oregon, but for the Dakota series it's just fantastic. I've had it for over a month now, moving it between cars and not once has it lost suction. It stayed on the windshield for a ride that ranged from -5 to 51 degrees Fahrenheit. I would definitely buy this product again.

Pros
  • looking forward to
Cons
  • weight

Poor build best for car mounts

The plastic that holds the metal pin and allows the mount to rotate vertically broke 3 (yes all 3 I bought!) in the same spot. Also the receiver end that attaches the ball of the mount to the GPS broke on all 3 mounts I have purchased meaning the GPS will not stay firmly in the mount. This is a terrible design and Garmin needs to come up with something better. I only replaced them because I'm an avid geocacher and need a way to mount my GPS when I want to cache alone. Mounting on the dashboard…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • embarrassing

Garmin Oregon Car Kit

Nice windshield mounting kit. Connecting the Oregon to the mounting plate is a little tricky, but once connected it becomes a solid mount. The glass suction cup is very strong and the GPS mounting plate snaps onto the suction cup with a strong ball mount. Sometimes I leave the GPS unit attached to the mounting plate and detach it from the suction cup via the ball mount. The cigarette lighter is a bit big but works perfectly. The power plug connects to the bottom of the GPS unit and protrudes…

Pros
  • Handsome
Cons
  • No mold required
