Will not fit newer Trek seatposts

New Trek bike seatposts slide over the cap instead of the tube. So the Garmin mount only fits on top of the mast itself and is too small for the seatpost which can result in very low light depending on your seat height. But a strong mount.

Fits the Varia RTL510 perfectly and fits my 31.8mm seatpost.

I didn't want to entrust this expensive unit to rubber mounts, but reading reviews of this fixed mount, some said it wouldn't fit a 31.5mm or larger seatpost, which was a concern. For anyone considering this mount, my road bike has a 31.8mm seatpost per manufacturer's specs and dimensions (see image). This mount fits perfectly without the included rubber pads and fixes the rear radar light well. I can recommend it as a solid alternative to the rubber band mount that comes with the Varia RTL510.

Do not buy! Defective execution!

This version is defective. I thought it was just the first one I bought but it's happened 2 now. At first I thought I might have overtightened it…. but the 2nd was not overtightened and the same problem occurred. The problem is that the nut pulls right through the plastic. This is a nut with a compression sleeve, the size of which is almost the same as the plastic hole. It should be bigger than the plastic hole but it isn't so it just comes out the other side. I got lucky on the 2nd and my…

Very durable. Does exactly what it should do.

This device is a very secure way to mount your Garmin Varia to your seat post. The only issue I had was that the rubber grommets that came with it weren't thick enough to securely attach it to my particular seatpost. I just found another piece of rubber in my shop and cut it to fit and all worked fine. You're looking to replace your stock Garmin mount with a seatpost that uses rubber straps as soon as possible. They age over time and eventually break and you lose a very expensive radar light…

Good but not perfect

Let's face it, Garmin makes great products, but their clips suck. Although this method is way better than the rubber band method (god they don't work with those bands) and although I REALLY like rubber inserts for different size pipes. The screw goes into a plastic metal insert. Because of this, it is easy to pull and pull the metal nozzle out of the plastic. A BETTER method would be to have a flare nut on the end that closes the plastic rather than pulling the insert out of the plastic…

The seat tube clamp interferes

Not suitable if you want to lower the seat tube mount as much as possible. The angle is such that the seat tube collar gets in the way. In order to make the Varia visible under the saddlebag, it is very important to position it as low as possible. I wanted to put my Varia on a second bike without moving the mount. I chose this one as it is more secure than the rubber band mount that comes with the Varia. Unfortunately I just bought one of the rubber bands to wrap around part of the frame just…

Bulky, ugly and doesn't pair well with saddlebags.

Technically, this Garmin mount works because it's strong and easy to install. However, mounting the mount at a height where the Varia light and radar don't touch the rear wheel of my bike (frame size 56cm, wheels 700x28) means the mount mounts right in the middle of my seatpost. In this position, my inner legs rub against the binding when I pedal. It's incredibly annoying to have the feeling of a thick plastic ring hitting the inner thigh (even in racing suits). Also, the mounting ring just…

Secure but uncomfortable best-of car mounts

This is a solid mount for the Varia, but as one or two people have pointed out, it doesn't offer enough clearance when you need to mount it low on the seatpost for Seat post clamps. I tried twisting the clip onto the stud from the front, which looked silly, but it still didn't work. So it doesn't fit my setup. I've been struggling with different mounting options for my Varia. I ride a carbon fiber endurance bike that was installed by a pro. My seatpost sticks out about 7-8 inches from the seat…

Has size restrictions

So I bought this to replace the version that comes with the Varia flashlight which has a strap that holds it to the seatpost. After reading some reviews about size limits I decided to take a chance. I have a Trek Emonda SL6 Pro with a carbon seat post. Well, this Garmin mount doesn't fit my bike's carbon seatpost. The bar appears to be around 35mm in diameter and does not fit in any way. The original mount that came with the Varia fits as it is simply held in place by a flexible strap. Luckily…
