This is a combination smart watch and sports watch. Smartwatch features aren't as smart as Google or Apple products, but I still get notifications, text messages, and caller ID synced to my phone, which is the main feature I've come to expect from a smartwatch. A full week of battery life on a single charge is way better than Apple and Google. The sports functions are significantly more precise and well thought out than those of Apple and Google. I use this watch to track my runs and bike…

I really like this watch

I really like this watch only there are a few small remarks but enough not to make it perfect. I start with what I like. It's compact, has GPS, looks clean, and doesn't look like you're wearing a smartwatch at all. I like to use a simple everyday watch as a fitness watch. I still use the Garmin Edge for most of my bike rides, but it's great for other shorter rides, hiking, skiing, etc. The Garmin Connect app has been greatly improved. ) was bigger and harder to turn off. With other…

Garmin is better for active people

There was also Vivoactive HR (broken my fault), Samsung Gear S3 (not broken). This compares to I am an active person 5-6 days a week. Running, cycling, weightlifting, P90X type activities and so on. I'm not the type of person who necessarily needs accurate results to ensure a perfect workout, perfect calorie burn, and perfect heart rate zone. The fitness watch is the tool that records my workouts no matter what. None of these are accurate upper body heart rates. The blood confined to the wrists

Save some money, buy something else. Piece of Scrap

***UPDATE: The situation is getting worse. I will never buy a Garmin product again. The heart rate monitor is so inaccurate that I don't even look at it. After a big set, when I'm out of breath, he'll hit 80-100 bpm. Battery life degrades every week. support is not helpful. I REALLY wanted to like this watch. Especially for the money I spent. I foolishly thought if I bought a watch at a reasonable price then it would be the best product. no I start with what I really hate about it and work my…

Tried another brand but went back to Garmin and love this item!

My previous smartwatch was the Garmin Vivoactive HR. This was my first smartwatch and I chose it precisely because it has GPS and is waterproof. Apple watches with similar features either didn't exist yet or cost three times as much - and this device needs to be charged every night (SMH). The long battery life and heart rate monitor were nice bonuses that I think are essential in any decent smartwatch. From the looks of it, however, not much better than the old plain fitness band or fitness…

Much better than I expected for the money

This is my first fitness watch. After a lot of research, I've found that this fits my intended performance and price range. I was not disappointed. I've read and researched a lot about wrist heart monitors. Everything I read suggested they weren't very accurate and that the monitor had to be uncomfortably narrow to be accurate. While I haven't checked my heart rate in front of another monitor on the watch at the same time, as a fitness trainer (indoor exercise bike) I have a pretty good idea of

The GPS worked great. until after 5 or 6 months it DIDN'T WORK AT ALL

New update: GPS stopped working as of May 25th. Tried updating via Garmin Express (to ensure the EPO.bin/ephemeris predicting satellite position) was up to date. I removed the phrase "DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH" from the title - it's unfair. It will be the perfect watch at the perfect price for MANY casual runners/treadmill users and even hikers. It's insanely easy to use, the controls are intuitive, the battery really lasts almost a week, the touchscreen is fantastic and it gives you all the data…
