The Gold Standard Hoses on Hoses

After working as a mechanic for a living a few years ago, I've come to the conclusion that Gates hoses and belts are the gold standard. I only replaced the hoses as preventative maintenance, but I noticed a soft spot on the hose I replaced, so it must have failed at some point. Better to swap now than on the go.

  • Hoses
Cons
  • Hardly ever

Radiator questionable

Fits fine but there was a problem with the connection to the thermostat housing, leaked coolant the day after the hose was changed. I had to replace the factory clamps with worm drive clamps, which I didn't want to do. It still drips from that connection no matter how hard I pinch it. You may need to return and replace it.

Pros
  • Spares
Cons
  • Requires bushing

Pros
  • Belts, hoses and pulleys
Cons
  • Short manual

Don't think one of the very last things installed was that hose - and it doesn't even come close. I was wondering if I had ordered the wrong hose so I checked four different websites and they all confirmed that the Gates 22832 was right for my application. I took the hose along with the original to the local auto zone for re-examination. They looked at my car, went to the
