She walks in circles, nobody knows where she will stop!

That's awesome! They go in circles, in circles, in circles, in circles, in circles, in circles. Well you get the idea. If you take two of these, like I did for my Honda Valkyrie, they will rev twice as much. I changed the previous straps due to age, not wear. Gates makes a good product.

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • There are nuances

Don't wait to change them.

Changed them on my new 1998 Goldwing. The bike only had 47,000 miles but I wouldn't ride it until the belts were changed as I was pretty sure they had never been changed. Why take the risk? The Golden Wing has an interference engine that will self-destruct if it fails. They are working great after 400 miles and were reasonably priced.

Pros
  • Amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

They look just like the originals but are a lot cheaper than.

Purchased to replace the belts on a 1999 Honda Valkyrie. They look just like the originals but are a lot cheaper than the ones Honda sells. After all, it's a Gates belt, what more could you ask for. Incidentally, the original belts were 18 years old and had 26,000 miles on them and looked immaculate even on very close inspection.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Low repairability

For 1988 GL1500 fits spares

I understand they are not made specifically for the Goldwing but still work great. Did the work myself (at 55,000 miles) and doing it with these (non-Honda) belts saved me a lot of money. The work is not difficult, it took me about 6 hours of my time. Search and find guides, then act. Have some new coolant and some new clamps handy. The perfect time to swap everything out. The bike is working perfectly after 1000 miles so I think everything was done right

Pros
  • good deal
Cons
  • high price

DO NOT CLAMP, BIND OR SUPPORT THE BELT IN ANY WAY

I've just put on the belts, started the engine and driven maybe 100 miles and everything seems fine. Keep in mind that Gates is the only belt Honda recommends and for the next person to use or check the belts, fill out the mileage sticker to give them the information they need, I think they will be fine. My gas mileage is already showing better than before the belt change and runs better, this was my first time, DON'T BUY YOUR BELTS IN NAPA THEY WANT $80. MANY

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Safety

1988 Honda GL1500 - Goldwing, perfect fit

Absolutely perfect fit for my 1988 GL1500. Take your time and print out one of the instructions if you are doing it yourself. Turning the fairings on and off was perhaps the hardest part of the job. If you are concerned about not being able to align the timestamps correctly, DO NOT ATTEMPT to do this work yourself. The valves in the GL1500 will contact the piston if the timing is not properly aligned. This can lead to severe engine damage. That warning aside, the project took me and my sonโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

1 belt as the engine revved I saw a little wear on the rubber

Golden Wing bought this bike in 1993 with 41,000 miles on it I rode it just over 81,000 miles and I don't think it has ever had a timing belt change after that 20 years, I think it's time to do it now. The only bad thing about one of these belts is that I've noticed some Frey rubber and it just pulls its strings together or something, but I don't know if the belt is ok or not, I've still tried the Revain in the Getting fingers because I really don't want to risk using the strap and watching itโ€ฆ

Goldwing Insurance! Same characteristics as factory belt

If you are purchasing Goldwing (up to GL1800 with chains) REPLACE THE BELTS ASAP. If you do not have documentation showing that the belts have been changed in the last year or two AND that the bike has been ridden regularly, REPLACE THE BELTS. Forget the estimated lifespan of timing belts, they are cheap insurance on a Goldwing engine and belt failure WILL DESTROY the engine. You can't tell if a belt is good by looking at it, touching it, etc. It's not the same as your fan belt, and if you buyโ€ฆ
