Grips not as strong

Works as advertised but the grips need to be a little stronger, I had a very thick retaining ring on my F250 that was giving me problems and it wasn't a fix, damn grips bend under the force required, to remove the locking ring, so I went back to the store to find a stronger pair

You will not receive what is shown in the photos.

Very upset about it. Didn't get the tips they showed in the pictures. Along with the pliers, they sent some cheesy multi-colored tips. When I contacted them about this they just emailed me to send it back and they refunded the money. i don't want money I need nozzles which should come with pliers. There is no answer from them.

Pros
  • Strong finish
Cons
  • High price

Long and good for tight but weak holds.

Requires a set of Long Circlip Pliers for 2007 Ford F250 Heavy Duty 4x4. This work was NOT done. They could penetrate far enough and fit snugly enough in the locking ring holes, but the handle wasn't stiff enough to open the locking ring - I squeezed until the handles barely touched, but they just flexed together.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Weight

Did the job I needed but was concerned they wouldn't last long.

I used a long pair of snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring on the front of the final drive shaft on my John Deere 2210. It's definitely long enough and has served its purpose. While I didn't have the issues with the pens that others mention, I did find the tips to be quite soft. The shoulders on them wore out quickly, creating a slight slope that made it difficult to keep the locking ring on the pliers.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Lots of things

Low quality snap ring pliers

has continued to serve me well. Unfortunately, this instrument had to be returned due to poor workmanship. One of the spikes couldn't be tightened enough to stay in place. The tool comes with several different sized tips as well as some extra set screws to hold them in place, but neither of these other parts were able to solve the problem.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as others

Very bad tips!

First, let me say that I have other great GearWrench products. This does not apply to these circlip pliers. I bought these to remove a hard to reach snap ring on my John Deere 2305 driveshaft. I used green elbows for this removal. After successfully removing the retaining ring, I noticed that one of the tips looked slightly bent. When installing and reinstalling the snap ring, the same tip broke before I could put the ring back into the groove. I chose tips with a smaller angle and one of the…

Low quality: power and hand tools

I have several excellent quality old gear wrench tools that have been used throughout a professional mechanic's workshop and continue to serve me well. Unfortunately, this instrument had to be returned due to poor workmanship. One of the spikes couldn't be tightened enough to stay in place. The tool comes with several different sized tips as well as some extra set screws to hold them in place, but neither of these other parts were able to solve the problem.

Pros
  • Rivet for strength and narrow profile
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen
