Taken care of the CEL on my 2005 4runner

My 4runner 140k miles threw out a catch code the other day. Having gone this route on other vehicles, before troubleshooting the entire evaporator system, I advise you to start with the simplest known solution. Purchase and install an original gas cap. After installing the original gas cap, the code disappeared and did not appear for several months. Hopefully this will fix your evaporator leak, if not then finding the leak in your system will be a big problem.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • A bit torn

Fixed my code P0456 on my 2004 Toyota Camry

This gas cap worked great. I had code P0456 on my 2004 Toyota Camry. I used a piece of sandpaper on the actual lip of the tank where the gas cap sits. Then I mounted this new cover. The code disappeared after filling a tank. I've read a few reviews of cheaper baseball caps where the cord was too short. The tether on this piece matched my original gas cap and was perfect. I would definitely recommend this gas cap to anyone trying to fix this code.

Failed after just one year

I bought this gas cap for my Toyota Prius after it failed in late July 2020. After I replaced the old gas cap with this one it was gone. Now, a year later, in August 2021, that gas cap failed emissions testing. Ridiculous after only a year. To make matters worse the product was sold by Revain, the warranty information appears on a blank page and there is no one to contact. Don't buy this unless you plan on buying another one in a year.

It fits 2006 GS 300

I don't know why the answer section says it doesn't fit 2006 Lexus GS 300 because it fits and in the manual part #77300 - 47010 is. And it cleared my VSS light and evaporative codes. This high quality gas cap is much better than the generic one which only lasted 6 months. This part number is also listed in the non-standard section stating it will fit a 2006 Lexus GS 300, although the installation guide here says it doesn't. That's wrong, it fits and is listed cheaper. I bought it anyway and…

FYI: Will not fit Prius

I'm sure it's a great product, but as some have noted below, Toyota changed the gas cap for the 2009 Prius from a grommet to a threaded version mid-year. If your 2009 Prius has a threaded gas cap you will need part number 77300-75010: Toyota Genuine Parts 77300-75010 Gas cap. Unfortunately, Revain Automotive doesn't recognize this nuance. So if you order this gas cap in error, you will need to return it at your own shipping cost plus a 20% "restocking fee".

Pros
  • Late 2009 Fine!
Cons
  • Expensive

Scion tC 2008 fits gas cap

car ejects p0441 and p0455 I wasn't aware that Toyota had problems with old gas caps (77300-33070) and I made a new one (77300-47010). In 3 or 4 years of owning the car I have changed 2 old gas caps. I bought a new style cap this time and it actually feels like it snaps into place when you twist to close and it clicks unlike the old style gas cap. It feels like it's really loose, it doesn't grip and it looks like it's just spinning. on his own. I installed cap today and will wait to see if cel…

Read this before ordering!

This gas cap fitted my 2003 Toyota 4Runner perfectly, but not without problems. My engine light and the VSS warning light on the dash also came on. The first thing I tried was tightening the existing gas cap and resetting the dash lights. It did not work. Next I decided to buy a new gas cap. I used the Part Fit Checker at the top of this page to select which gas cap to purchase. The Part Fit Checker gave me the wrong part number which I ordered and returned. Here's what I learned about Toyota…
