I needed some inexpensive SSDs for recovery and they did the trick. I don't know how fast they are and I don't care. They're much faster than the mechanical drives they replaced. The price went up right after the purchase, so I probably won't buy again, but I'm happy with the result.

I first put the SSD in an external FW800/USB 2.0 enclosure and used the Apple Disk Utility with the FW800 to get the GUID (Mac Journaled) and a few seconds later the SSD was ready for a clean install of High Sierra 10.13.6 The macOS installation took about 20 minutes from the FW800 Bootable well as a bootdisk from both Firewire 800 and from USB 2.0 connections.
