excellent blade and perfect balance

This knife will do just about anything. Makes the job a lot easier and holds the cutting edge almost perfectly. Fits comfortably in your hand and is great for finely chopping herbs as the heavy handle helps with moving it back and forth. I love it and have been using Globals for about 10 years.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Not bad

Excellent knife - chef's knife

The knife is very beautiful; the handle is ergonomic (only for right-handers!), excellent balance, the look of the knife is pleasant. The Tsuhime surface allows "sticky" foods like potatoes to slide off the knife much more easily than a smooth-sided knife. I will say that out of the box the blade wasn't as sharp as I expected but a few passes over the ceramic sharpener sorted it out.

Pros
  • Solid workmanship
Cons
  • Was damaged

This is a very nice knife and feels good in the hand

This is a very nice knife and feels good in the hand. Another reviewer noted that the design works best for a right-handed player with a notch, but it has a good trump ramp so a left-handed player would probably be fine. The knife is very sharp and perfectly balanced. I bought this knife from Williams Sonoma for $119.99. It was a promotional price but the regular price was 149.99.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • thin

Global make beautiful knives and continue the tradition with the Sai line. When they talk about the best knives, that's exactly what they mean. Every detail of this knife is amazing if you're right-handed. My left handed friend doesn't really like it, the handle allows for hours of slicing, slicing and slicing in one go. It gets a little slippery if your hands are greasy, more so than rubber/wood handle knives. I will continue to buy all knives I buy worldwide. Wonderful tools without a doubt.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Overview Global Sai

I bought a set of Sai knives so this is a general overview. The knives are nice, well weighted and sharp. Thanks to the matt surface, the knives are more slippery when wet or have slippery hands than many other knives or world classics. (The first thing I did was wash the knife and while it was wet it slipped out of my hand and I cut myself). The blade cuts everything it touches. If you have a weak grip this can be a problem. The knife has a notch on the left side for a right-handed thumb, but…

Cons

Rounded knife

The knife is pleasant to the touch. It's well weighted and easy to handle. While I don't have any issues with slippage, I understand why it might be an issue for others. I personally don't care about the notch in the handle as I don't usually store knives there. I put it higher on the knife, on the blade and right in front of the roller and hold it between my thumb and forefinger. (See how to hold a chef's knife.) So I guess it doesn't matter if it's left-handed or right-handed or not more…

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • So-so
