Worked great in my 1972 Datsun 240z.

I bought this fuel pump to replace the original pump on my 1972 Datsun 240Z that hasn't started since 2000. He earned immediately.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Instant part failure

I recently purchased this mechanical fuel pump for my 1972 Datsun 240z. My plan was to install this while locating the necessary parts to restore my original Nikki pump. This part failed immediately. After replacing the original pump, I was getting almost no gas on my carbs. I opened up this pump to find the upper diaphragm and both internal valves were swollen, blistered and non-operational. I use premium gasoline with standard fuel stabilizer.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Volume

Questionable quality

Looks great, almost like the original. Fit was good. The first one I received failed (lost fuel pressure) after 2 days (got me stuck, tow truck etc). I'm pretty sure one of the internal check valves was defective. The pump replacement (from Revain) took about a week before the seal failed and oil spurted out of the drain holes (front and back of the pump housing). The third (again replaced by Revain) has been working fine for about a month now, fingers crossed.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Expensive

GMB fuel pump works in 1972 240Z

I have a 1972 Datsun 240Z, restored, original and the fuel pump has failed. Search the internet and parts stores for a Kyosan Denki (non-Nikki) fuel pump repair kit. Couldn't find and find this pump that looks identical. I saw other reviews saying they used this one so I ordered and received it. However, I changed the inner workings and now I have a new Kyosan Denki pump. They are identical inside which was great and the best part is that it works great. Thanks to GMB for this pump, I did itโ€ฆ

Pros

  • Not bad but...

So far so good on a 1972 240Z.

My 240Z had some low fuel issues which I narrowed down to a faulty OEM fuel pump as the most likely culprit. I bought it cheap from Revain and installed it in about 15 minutes, which immediately solved my fuel problems. I've only had it there for a few weeks, but so far it's working perfectly. Also included are two gaskets. The best thing about this fuel pump is that it looks almost exactly like an OEM Nikki fuel pump, with the only difference being that there is no "Nikki" written on the topโ€ฆ

Pump looks good and works well

I bought this to replace an Ampco (OEM) pump on my 260Z. Completely solved my fuel pressure problem. The design is so close to the original pump (except that it's cast from what my dad called a "metal pot" rather than aluminum) that I might consider using its internals to make an OEM pump (Ampco ) rebuild. I was put off as another reviewer had successfully rebuilt a 240Z Kyosan Denki pump with internals and I wasn't sure if those internals would fit Ampco. I know from the forums that theโ€ฆ
