Not a complete disappointment, but not too much to keep things off track. I bought two and put one under the steps in the garage and we still track a lot of dirt and gravel dust. I didn't notice much difference between this and the cheap rug I had before. I put the other in front of our back patio door on the covered patio where the dogs come in and out and they still dig through the dirt and debris. This is a durable and comfortable mat to wipe your feet hard on.

It has everything you want in a rug for your home: heavy, non-slip, collects dirt and water, actually black (not dark grey), soft enough under bare feet, durable enough to scratch dirt. I can definitely say that this is a better quality rug than other cheaper ones. I bought some mats for my backyard floor because my dogs walk out of the backyard in an obscene amount of dirt and mud. I bought 6 cheaper rugs to line the path from the door to her kennel and just one of these rugs to place on the interior door leading from the utility room to the rest of the house.
