Square Nut - Fastener

Well made, correct 12-24 threads. I ordered these to replace the missing nuts on the shelf bracket. Their overall diameter is too large to be used.

Pros
  • Material: Steel
Cons
  • Doubtful

Historical Accuracy Square Nuts

I'm guessing those hard-to-find square nuts still exist. I need them for a historically accurate model, so hex nuts will never fit.

Pros
  • Thickness: 21/64"
Cons
  • ---

I ordered an old fashioned type with a dark matte finish

The nuts I received were in a shiny chrome finish. I wanted them to look like your picture. They're the right size, but that's all I've become like them.

Pros
  • Screwdriver Type: 5/8 inch wrench
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Threaded hole drilled at an angle

The holes in these nuts are not drilled perpendicular to the base of the nut. When tightening the nut into a flat aluminum T-slot piece, the nuts will not snug the metal making the attachments unstable as the nuts lean in. Importantly enough, the natural play of the threads is not enough to take up the error. This can be normal on softer materials like wood, but not on metal projects.

Pros
  • Diameter: 3/8"
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
