HP should mean "high problem ".

I bought this DVD burner thinking it would burn CDs and DVDs. The programs supplied were not burned onto CD-R or RW. It doesn't even erase DVD-RW or CD-RW. I know the programs that come with it are rubbish, but even the expensive programs couldn't burn the disc. This error message appeared every time the CD was almost finished and didn't even start. This burner only burned two DVDs. But it can read DVD and CD. I've had problems with every HP product I've ever used. I will never buy an HP…

Very Good DVD Burner

This is the perfect addition for anyone who owns a laptop with a FireWire or USB 2.0 port. For a FireWire connection you will need a 4 pin to 6 pin FireWire cable as the kit comes with 6 to 6 pins. Installation was easy and took about 2 minutes. Installing the software was also easy. Includes Veritas RecordNow, SimpleBackup, DLA and ArcSoft ShowBiz DVD. I can't install DLA because I already have Roxio Easy CD Creastor 5.3 installed. Reading other people's reviews of the HP DVD200 (precursor to…

Pros
  • Provides 4X write speed, 2.4X overwrite speed and 8X read speed for DVD; 16x writing, 10x overwriting and 40x reading for CD
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Good business! for computers and accessories

Bought when I was short on money and have never been disappointed since! Worked like a charm straight away with the included USB cable! But not without pros and cons: CONS: Large and clunky. For those with limited space, consider a smaller outdoor model or an indoor model. DVD burning speed doesn't seem to be such a big deal, but waiting half an hour to burn a full DVD at 4x speed is slow. I think 8X drives are already out there. Another downside is that the included recording software is…

  • Compatible with Windows 98 SE, 2000, NT 4.0, Me and XP
Cons

Does what I want without errors

I'm not sure why some people don't like this HP DVD burner. But first let me tell you what I use it for. I buy a CD, then burn it onto a hard drive and then sell the CD back to a used CD dealer. Keeps my music collection at a lower cost and allows me to use MP3 etc. After burning 500 CDs onto my hard drive I started worrying about backups. I bought it and backed up my 500 MP3 CDs to DVD. All it took was 5. Five DVDs with a backup. It was very easy to use and did its job in the usual way. not…
