This sponge is not "small" as advertised. This is HUGE for my 10G. Unless they sent me the wrong one. Seems to be good quality though! Weighted and matte black finish

Excellent product. I use it for aquariums that require little water or have small critters like shrimp, snails, and fry. Low profile and hides very well behind plants. There is no better option in my opinion.

The thing is great when it comes to filter foam. Good dense foam and large surface area for bacterial growth and colonization. The base is heavy enough to keep it in the right position, but this thing can work perfectly on its side. For fry/shrimp/growing aquarium this would be great.

This filter works great with my 20 gallon. I have 29 animals in my aquarium and the water parameters are perfect when using the Fluval filter attachment. I recommend only using these types of filters as they cost less money, last forever and don't require the purchase of expensive cartridges. Great purchase, highly recommend.

Received exactly as expected. I trust the Hikari brand and buy their pet food. Was in the market for a sponge filter for my 20 gallon. This filter comes with a plastic tube that is fixed in the middle of the sponge cage. I cut it out to install an air stone, which is easy enough, but fitting an air duct inside is cumbersome (but possible) for this style of construction. This is a good filter but it was *much* taller than expected. It may be a delivery error. The one I received was taller than it is wide, contrary to what is shown on the product image. If you don't care what size you get this will work fine, but I didn't realize I got the wrong product until I put it in the tank (and for my purposes a big one is fine).
