This is aWeMos D1 R1 And it's exactly what I expected

I was a little concerned when I bought this product because of all the negative reviews. Anyone familiar with Ardunio boards knows that they are Wemos D1 R1. This is true and Wemos D1 R1 no more, no less. This is a solid board.

Pros
  • 11 digital I/O pins
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Outdated version of the board.

This is a discontinued D1 R1. Wouldn't recommend it. Not exactly a sign, but a standalone ESP8266. Wouldn't mind if it wasn't the retired version.

Pros
  • Compatible with Arduino, uses the Arduino IDE for programming
Cons
  • Negative impression

Works perfectly!

Works great. I'm deducting a star because it only has one analog pin. It would be great if there were more, but otherwise everything is fine. If you want it to be able to go into deep sleep mode, connect the first pin to D2 - that's another weird thing about this device - most connect to D0 first.

Pros
  • Computer Components
Cons
  • Unsafe

Nice Way to Play

Okay this is a bit dated as Wemos already have their mini and ESP32 is out but it's still a good way to play. The USB port manages the chip's programming pins with DTR and RTS serial port lines, making firmware upgrades easier. The power supply has a transition from a coax connector to a 5V rail which then drives a typical 1117 regulator for 3.3V. There are high power LEDs for 5v and 3v3 rails. Note that there is no level shifting, so this is a 3.3V logic level on the pins, not a typical…

Pros
  • Desktop Barebones
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price
