Now I will buy Spax they are too much trouble

The main advantage is that they are cheap. However, I find that they are much less durable than Spax in some areas. The head comes off a little easier, if you drive in you will almost never be able to use it again. If you pull it out don't try to screw it back in as this will likely blow off the head and you will have to use a vise to unscrew it. With Spax I've probably reused the same screws 3 or 4 times in some places without worrying about stripping the head. I have found that when drilling…

  • Very impressive

Buyer warning! best in category Screws

In 2018 I gave these screws 5 stars. About 10 months after installation, I noticed several boards on my new deck were warped. I've tried removing the screws to replace the boards with little success. Of the 72 or so screws I tried to remove, only 9 came out in one piece. The remaining 63 screws broke off and half remained stuck to the joists, making removing the boards a nightmare. We had to use a heavy pry bar to remove each board. My entire 25 x 18 deck needs to be replaced. I emailed Hillman

These are Deck Screws

I don't know what to say about the Deck Screws report. It's screws. They're a lot cheaper here than at Lowe's or Home Depot, so get them here. You'll also need a star driver (included) so you don't have to take them off, and they're easy to take off too if you need to fix/maintain what you're building. This is a reminder that if you don't use them and instead use nails or other fasteners, you're making it REALLY harder for the next person who needs to fix your crappy work. Don't be an idiot, do

Good screw for outdoors but with some problems

There seem to be several types of screws for outdoor patios. One type is weather resistant due to a very thin coating that does not interfere with screw placement. This type of screw is coated with a thick material, making the tip less sharp. Every screw has the same problem. You have to bang it into the wood with the weight of the drill to make it start biting. An alternative way is to hit it with a hammer and then a screwdriver. Each of these options is bad and makes using the screw less…
