Damn good bobbin winder gun. I just received it and am waiting for my new Hobart 210 MVP welder. I'm a bit disappointed Hobart doesn't include a roll of aluminum wire for this price. Realistically sell more expensive than the competition and don't include a wire spool for it.?

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Good but not great

Great way to expand your skills

Great addition to my Hobart Handler 210. Works just as well as any other spool gun I've used although it's not perfect so I often use it for material at its max use . They didn't have bird nests, just make sure you know how to install the wire properly. If you own a Handler 190 or 210 I don't see why you shouldn't have one. Even if you have a TIG machine, MIG comes in handy when professional aesthetics aren't an issue and you want to save a lot of time.

Works surprisingly well, although it heats up quickly.

It works very well. The thing also gets very hot. I ran about 4 feet down the board and had to stop halfway to change my gloves. I once had a stuck gear and it was very difficult to clean the plastic gears and tip, but overall for the cost this is a great addition to my aluminum errand setup (a heavy trailer ramp in my case). Not sure what caused the jam, it only happened once in nearly 20 feet of all types of joints. I should also mention that I've felt some performance fluctuations for long…

Works great with aluminum

This changed the rules of my weld setup and allowed me to create much lighter parts. I mainly make long industrial tables for my business and do small side projects for friends/family. Everyone is right, the way this coil is fed is annoying. I just remove the plastic cover that sits over the gears. If you squeeze it while pulling, it will release instantly. and it helped me navigate the wire more easily. Once you feed him, the gun works like a dream. The welds looked crappy at first, but then I

Stock offer for MIG welders

Bought from Revain stock. Works great with my Hobart 187 arm and Miller SGA100 adapter. Update: Had to send back two guns that stopped working. I didn't use a half spool of wire. Got my third gun today. I thought it was an SGA100 adapter. Not so. Just bad luck I hope. I had 5 stars after I started using the first one but changed it to three. Second update: I waited to post this review until I had time to finish my project. This third weapon works perfectly. I still have doubts. The problem is…

Weld well, load poorly

Bought this machine for my Hobart 210 for aluminum welding. For the first time I have to say that loading this gun is a nightmare. When I say nightmare, I want it to be as simple as a nightmare. I spent nearly 45 minutes on the first try and had to disassemble the gun to try and clear the jam. I don't think it would be "practice makes perfect". It's just a very bad design. The problem is that the top roller lifts up and exposes the jaws for the wire to pass through. The bottom roll is tight and

I have had a Hobart 210MVP for 3 years.

I have had a Hobart 210MVP for 3 years and this gun is almost the same. The weapon works very well for me. I've used it to repair several thin aluminum boats and boats up to 1/4" with no problem. The easiest way to swap coils is to throw away the instructions and forget about trying to use the impeller release button to run cables through both impellers. Press You press the drive wheel release button while the wire is being fed until it touches the top drive wheel, then release the button and…
