🔌 Hopkins 48190: Endurance Quick Fix Vehicle Side 4-Flat Connector – Efficient and Reliable Solution for a Secure Trailer Connection Review

Bought this to replace my old one. Very easy to install. I removed some of the covering on the wires to improve the connection to the connector plugs and then crimped the plugs together. I added lots of dielectric grease and patched it up. As they say, super easy and well done.

I bought this to just use my existing wiring and it worked very well. I really like the indicator lights. Ease of setup. What I didn't like is that the rubber is very soft and gets harder in bad weather. Not sure how long it will be, but so far so good.

Only problem is that as others have said connecting the cable can be a bit of a hassle. I used 16 gauge wire and had to bend the "V" clamp a bit. The easiest way is to place the wire over the "V" and insert the wire in to make the connection with a flat head screwdriver. Once in, it's safe and works well

The device cannot handle heavy gauge wires (about 10 or less). The device is designed so that you put the wires on the terminals and the screwing of the plate is used to insert the wires into the terminals (the terminals pierce the wire on the sides). With large diameter wires, the wires push the connectors apart. I had to use a piece of 12 gauge wire to get the device to work and then I had to use a butt joint to connect the 12 gauge wire to the 10 gauge wire.

It really works. It's quite big and bulky. I also found that where you press the wires wasn't sharp enough to cut the plastic around the wire and the metal was too soft and fell apart. I had to use pliers to squeeze the contacts closer together and then strip my wires and try again. Unfortunately this turned out not to be the case where my connections were messed up my converter box died. I ended up replacing the whole tail with a new converter box and tail from UHaul.

liked the leds. They feel comfortable, although not critical. I didn't like the mechanism for plugging wires from the car into the connector. It keeps the wires slack which is an inconvenience during installation (you get two or three in the right position, try the next one but one of the previously installed wires pops out. Do this a dozen times and see how annoying it is YOU). More importantly, I expected the wires to be a lot more reliable once I screwed the top on. Maybe, but only slightly.
