Sturdy and easy to install. If you can tin the wires before screwing them in, they'll last a lot longer! I put some dielectric grease on the connectors and inside in case it helps anyone. Minimizes corrosion. The plug fits great and the door has a nice strong spring to keep everything shut tight when not in use.

Excellent replacement for OEM 2006 Tacoma trailer socket

Bought this model to replace a 2006 Toyota Tacoma OEM trailer socket. A standard Toyota part will cost you over a hundred dollars! It's great that you can use a 7-pin round socket or a flat 4/5-wire socket under the round plug, which means that there is no need for an adapter when using different trailers. Pretty easy to install with basic wiring knowledge. You must install plugs on the factory ends of the cords to connect to a spare outlet. I did a lot of research and the Hopkins 48470 turned…

Very nice, worth the effort and time.

I used this to replace an old dingy plug that was on my truck. It works perfectly and I love its nice clean look. However, it takes a little effort and patience to connect it. It's not a design flaw, it only works with 10 ga. and 12 ha. Wire can be difficult in tight spaces. Do not strip the wires any longer than necessary and bend them before inserting them into the terminals. I had to do that twice to get everything right. I doubt this is unique to this connector, most likely have the same…

Easy Installation & Heavy Duty Construction

Replaced my John Pollack Connector 9-way Car End 12-907 which only lasted 12 months before disconnecting and breaking the door. This replacement device was easy to install and far more reliable. still plastic. but tough, thick and heavy - holds the 7-pin connector in place. It still has relatively flimsy and not entirely stable electrical connections, but overall it's significantly more durable than the original for just a few bucks more. Haven't had a chance to test the 4 and 5 pin part yet…

Definitely worth it

Tacoma 2005-2015 Factory wiring runs low and often breaks when used off-road. I drilled a hole in my bumper and installed it next to the license plate. Many people run the factory wiring to the bumper and replace one of the license plate lights. I didn't like this option because there are 2 bulbs for a reason. Also, my standard gimbal was dangling from the wires when the mount was destroyed after the impact. I cut off the series wiring, left enough wires on the old harness to know the wire…

Main connectors together for ease of use

Whatever connector you have it always feels like you've stumbled upon a trailer that needs something different. Then the supposed adapter in the glove compartment is nowhere to be found - or does not make a good connection - or creates a braid that is too long and gets caught somewhere and comes off - or. I've noticed that some of the newer trucks have connectors for the most common 4 pin and 7 pin options so I looked for something to fit my old truck and came across the Hopkins Multi-Tow…

Hopkins 48470 - Round 7 Pin Plus Flat 5 Pin Plug

I am towing a trailer with electric brakes and another trailer with hydraulic brakes. An electric brake trailer uses a standard round 7-pin connector, while an impulse brake trailer uses the usual four wires for the tail lights plus a fifth wire that connects to the tractor's reverse lights. A backup brake locking solenoid is required to install an impulse brake, and the extra wire requires a total of five wires, i.e. a flat-5 connector. This Hopkins connector is exactly what you need. I don't…
