Excellent stone for chisels and knives, razor sharp

The large stone gives enough surface area to sharpen and although both grits are very fine they cut well and become razor sharp quickly.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen

Split in two after second use

I used this stone once and it worked well but was noticeably worn. The next time I used it I soaked it as directed before use and when I removed it the stone split in half and separated into two grains.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Suitable for razors

I bought this sharpening stone for my razors. It works! I bought an antique straight razor at an antique store and used this stone to prepare for a shave. The blade was already in decent shape. However, after about 20 passes on the 3000 grit side and 40 on the 8000 grit side and some work, the razor was a pleasure to use. She did her job!

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
