Stay Away Electronics

I installed this drive on an old computer and neither the BIOS nor Windows 10 recognized it. I bought it for a new computer I wanted to build, so I bought it and wrote it on an old motherboard and it's incompatible. Then I installed it in my new build and encountered the same problem. So I bought an ADATA m.2 SSD which works great. I then repaired the EX920 drive and got a replacement. This is where the real fun begins: Before installing the EX920 replacement, I was able to overclock my 9900Kโ€ฆ

Works great right out of the box

Works great right out of the box, I installed Asus ROG Strix X470, this unit is 5X faster than my SSD, in fact I'm considering selling a cardioid to get 2 TB to buy considering the motherboard has 2 M.2 slots, yes the thing is expensive but worth it, ok maybe not worth selling a cardioid for it ;) but you get the point .

Pros
  • Quality build

Worked for a month, Revain does not return or replace

I bought it as the main hard drive for installing the operating system and basic programs. It worked flawlessly for a little over a month, loading times were practically non-existent, it was like turning on a TV and loading immediately. Programs load without delay every time. I was definitely impressed. One day I wanted to turn on the computer and it took a very long time for Windows to load (more than 5 minutes). After the login page finally loaded, I noticed my background image was missingโ€ฆ

960 Evo performance! HP kicks him out of the park!

I never thought I'd buy or review an HP SSD, but it's 2018 and here we are. I knew very little about the EX920 beforehand, but I was looking for a 1TB SSD and like everyone else on the market, I immediately went with the 960 EVO. However, at the time of this review, the 1TB 960 EVO is priced at $450. The HP Ex920 came in at a mere $370 for a 1TB drive. I had to triple check all the specs to make sure it was indeed an NVME drive or there might be no hidden issues. To my surprise, the reviews for

Great NVME drive but less software/firmware support

Based on sm2262 with a great SLC caching algorithm, the ex920 really surprises me with its qd1qd4 4k read as well as well done SEQ read. These are key factors for users who intend to use NVME as a system drive. Surprisingly, replacing my previous NVME, Adata sx8000, with an EX920 increased my download speed by 1.6x! Despite the great feature mentioned above, consumers may find it difficult to find official support on the HP website. Although it has a 5-year warranty like its sx8200 and 760pโ€ฆ
