Solved my problem installing amplifier

This was a simple fix for my ceiling fan that saved me from having to replace the entire unit. Easy to install and it was helpful to watch a short DIY video before replacing. Only basic tools are required.

Pros
  • well. Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Useless features

while it works fine. With properly tinned wires.

so far so good. I used it to fix a ceiling fan. To my surprise, the wires were actually the same color, and the ones that needed tinning were already there for the pull chain connection. Excellent work.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • expensive

A simple fix for a sick ceiling fan.

Our fan is controlled by a Lutron dimmer and has started behaving erratically and vibrating. The dimmer checked, so most likely the capacitor failed. I turned off the power, opened up the compartment under the fan that houses the circuit switch, cut 5 wires to the old capacitor and connected the new one with small nuts. The fan repair was easy, pun intended. Works like new. I didn't even have to remove the fan. Done in 10 minutes.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Returnable

Why is the color code changing on these devices?

Works as expected. It appears to be well built and completely flooded. Note that the 3 capacitance values on this device do not necessarily map to the same purple-brown-red color coded wires as the original fan capacitor. I've bought this unit before and the color codes of the 3 capacitor lines seem to change every time I buy it. You would think that the purple-brown-red wires would have the same order of capacitance in series to support low, medium, and high fan speeds.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Fan requires capacitor

My ceiling fan hasn't changed speed in 10 years. I put it off because I thought it would be difficult to solve the problem. In fact, he stumbled around for a while. Then I did a little research and found that if replacing the switch doesn't help, a capacitor would do the trick. Since I had already changed the switch at the end of last year, I decided to replace the capacitor. After getting the part number from the old one, I found my new one on this site. Finally the problem solved. So lesson…

Slow fan problem, so replaced condenser and remote control kit.

Worked like a champ for a 20 year old fan. She liked the fan and we couldn't find a similar replacement. The fan ran very slowly at high speed so I replaced the condenser and remote control kit. Now you can hear a click from the fan every time you press the button on the remote control. I suspect it is the capacitor. Actually, I prefer clicking because I know the click of the button has been registered. Press the button, hear the click, know the button press was received. After replacing the…

MOST PROBABLY A BAD CAPACITOR IF CEILING FAN STOPS TURNING

Stark suspects that the cause of my 20 year old ceiling fan's blades not turning was a blown capacitor. The fan light continued to function normally. Here's a troubleshooting tip: If the fan speed is high, move the forward/reverse switch back, then forward and see if there's a slight movement in that direction. If so, then this is an indicator of a defective capacitor. I opened the fan case over the lighting unit to determine the capacitor type and markings and took a picture with my phone…
