LawnBoy Spool: Ignition Parts

The replacement spool looked like the exact part but I had to modify the mounting holes to make it work with my Model 7081 mower. After some time with the Dremal tool I was able to do this make it work. Works great now!

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • Crumpled

Will not fit my LB 4600 without drilling an extra mounting hole

will not fit directly on a 1983 Lawn-Boy 4600 lawn mower, had to drill a mounting hole, The spark plug wire needed extra clearance around it housing, but the mower started immediately afterwards

Matching old lawn mower in spare parts

I was struggling to find information on a suitable reel for my very old lawn mower. I dared and bought this device. It worked great. I had to make a simple modification to the plastic sheath to fit the spark plug wire. My old lawn mower came to life and works like new.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Acceptable replacement for Lawn Boy

Works straight away. Doesn't work as well as the original, most likely internal timing/capacity difference, but certainly makes sense for the price. I've been using it for over 4 hours and haven't had any problems with my F series motor. Replace the Duraforce motor with the same type and they work too. Not perfect, but acceptable for the price.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Very expensive

Economical solution for S19ZPM LawnBoy engines

He lost a star because of positive ice transport, otherwise he does his job simply and elegantly. The case is held in place by a bunch of Phillips screws. Magneto rests on two easily accessible bolts. It's pretty easy. One thing you can do is take a photo or sketch of an old magneto before you take it off. This magneto didn't look like my old one so it took a bit of fiddling to install a replacement.

Pros
  • Great!
Cons
  • flimsy

Shot straight up. Adjust the gap easily.

Worked great on my Lawnboy 10520 with F Series engine. The magnetic gap setting for my mower was 0.010". From what I've found on the web, the gaps used are either .010" or .014" for all Lawnmen, but try to find your model's gap yourself. I've also seen business cards used, but they seem a bit wide to me. I used a sharpie to mark where the magnets were on the flywheel, then took the .010" blade from my feeler gauge and slipped it between the coil and flywheel magnets. Let the magnets pull…

Almost 75% smaller than Lawn Boy equivalent.

My 17 year old Gold Series lawn mower surprised me the first time it wouldn't start. A quick check revealed a defective ignition coil. Armed with the model/serial number, I began searching online to see how much this part might cost me at one of the local small engine repair shops. I have to say I was a bit surprised to find that this reel sold for around $108. Of course, I didn't want to spend that much money on an old mower, so my next check was for Revain. I found and ordered this reel for…

Inexpensive repair for my 20 year old lawn mower.

This was a simple, inexpensive solution for my 20 year old Lawnboy 10401 19 inch mower. This mower model is very easy to use. If you know you have a good spark plug and your lawn mower isn't having a spark, this is the part you need metal on the recoil and one on the gas tank and carefully pry them both out of the way. This will completely expose the flywheel and ignition module. This module is all there is in the ignition system and is held in place by two small screws. There are various…

  • Excellent overall performance
