Should they be made for small and overweight children?

I bought a youth size (50-90lbs) for my 5 year old who is 55lbs. He is in good physical condition. That life jacket looks ridiculous on him. Even when tightened, it's too wide and so short. I've never seen anything so stupid. I tried it on my 7 year old and it looked just as awful on him. I can only assume that it is made for small overweight children because I can't imagine a medium sized child will fit in it.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • So far so good

One size larger than the best in lifejackets and vests

Update: I saw that there is a hole under this vest, 4 holes to be exact. It is in order? I bought the pink one, also youth size, and it has the same holes as the blue one. Interesting, is that normal? I'm not sure? There's no way it's for a baby, it's just for a baby. I wonder how small the baby is. I ordered this for my 7 year old 40lbs she is very skinny and it is too tight for her. I have it set to the max and it is still so tight for her it is also very short for her, it does not fit a…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Strap Too Rough – Lifejackets and Vests

This was used to keep my granddaughters' heads above water. But the crotch strap really needs some padding. He rubbed it until it bled after a short use. This is a sensitive area and the belt is too stiff and rough. I know it has to be durable, but a soft surface is essential to protect baby's delicate skin. Apparently a bathing suit is not enough. She may need to wear shorts over her bathing suit to protect her from the strap.

Pros
  • USCG SIZE APPROVAL: CHILD SIZE Lifejacket: 30-50 lbs (if over 25 lbs child size; if over 45 lbs youth size); Actual comfort, fit and measurements may vary.
Cons
  • Protection

Ordered this for sea use but wouldn't give it to anyone for sea use. Very cheaply made and I am very surprised that the US Coast Guard approved the use of the lake. It's also uncomfortable to wear. If it's a new and improved model, I don't want to see what the previous model was like. The only positive thing is the color is great. The biggest bummer is that I missed the return window and now I'm stuck in it!

Pros
  • FULL SIZE FEATURES: Durable nylon construction and thick EPE foam; When the PFD lifejacket is securely fastened, it must not protrude over the child's head!
Cons
  • 0

Ensure the safety of the baby and the freedom of swimming for the mother!

I've never thought about buying a life jacket but better safe than sorry. Best money I've spent. We needed about an inch and a half of suitcase space for our trip to Hawaii, but it was worth it. Used twice there and twice since we got home. This allowed my 6 year old daughter to go to the sea with me and the rest of our family and not have to worry about her not being able to swim. She should enjoy the waves and splash around. At home he protected her and enjoyed his time by the river while dad

Pros
  • UNIVERSAL USCG PFD: Ideal for general boating and life jackets for swimming.
Cons
  • Not bad

Okay, but be careful with the leg strap!

This life jacket was ok for the money. I needed something quick for our trip to the beach so our 5 (almost 6) year old could get boogie boarding. I ordered a child size because he said 30-50 pounds. She is 42 pounds. It was VERY small for her, but it was good. I just had to keep her afloat in case something happened. But when we got to the beach we used a leg strap to keep it from slipping around her neck but causing a HORRIBLE rash! Both legs. One leg was bad enough, it was bleeding! I plan on

Pros
  • Packaging may vary
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings, everything is fine
