I work on a lot of older machines. I've used this several times to free frozen zerks. It's awkward to fill out and use, but that's to be expected with this type of work. I would recommend using one of these before attempting to pull the zerk.

Works very well. You may have to use it twice for more stubborn grease nipples, but it definitely works for my needs. Oil will squirt out of the joint you're trying to open, but that should be it. Be sure to wear safety goggles as instructed.
