The slim Iomega external DVD drive gets the job done.

I've been looking for a small external DVD drive for my new netbook for a long time. I have had Iomega products before and this one seemed to fit my needs. It arrived on time and was packaged fairly well. The device itself appears to have a thin outer shell that's very flexible rather than rigid, and you'll need to be careful not to squeeze it or do anything that might cause the top to flex inward. However, it gets the job done, is very light for portability, and is very quiet. The included…

Best external components

This device is the epitome of simplicity. When I opened the package I erased all of the contents to make sure nothing was missing. First, I threw away the completely useless Nero software CD. I then used a shorter USB cable to connect it to my Dell Mini-Duo. Then I put in the DVD with the movie and it started playing right away. I have no idea how anything could be simpler. This is a great product and it works great for me.

Works with external components

The device works as advertised. The setup worked fine, but I had to use both USB sockets to get enough power to work. When I first installed it with only one port, it seemed to install fine, but no data was transferring. Plugging in a second USB cable helped. The device is very small and compact, which is nice. However, the case is thin enough that when you press hard, you can hear a grinding noise, indicating it's rubbing against the inside of the motor. There are no side effects from it, but…

Excels in External Components

This sleek DVD drive is just what you need. We ordered one for the IT department because we use a lot of MacBook Air laptops and small HP laptops that don't have an internal DVD drive. This Iomega is a little more expensive than some of the others, but it's solidly built and works great on both the MAC and Windows computers we use. It's small, easy to carry, and works exactly how we want it to. I think the only thing that worries me is the cost as it's a bit more expensive.

External Optical Drive

Used as external storage for Dell Netbooks Since I have limited free storage space, I was looking for a small size. This device meets all advertised requirements. Will buy again if I need a second one.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Useless features

Ultra thin and easy to set up.

I bought this to install software on my Dell Mini 9 and it worked like a charm right out of the box. It's thin, light and quiet. The best part was that Windows XP recognized it automatically, so all I had to do was plug it in. I have no idea how this affects battery life as I don't usually run on battery power but it does require 2 USB ports. turn it on The Dell Mini 9 only has 3 USB ports so keep that in mind if you need to leave it plugged in for a while. I had. Discs snap into a tray similar

Iomega Super Slim DVD

This DVD player worked right out of the box. I have not installed the included NERO software and do not intend to install it as people who have have received bad reviews. You don't need any special software to operate this DVD player, it's plug and play. I use it with an 11.5 inch Acer Aspire computer with Windows 7 and it works great. I haven't used it as a recorder yet, so I can't comment on that aspect, but it plays files and movies just fine. I bought this device because it was one of the…

A little tired of the reviews.

.but not required. It was an amazing purchase, it worked right out of the box, nothing else was required to work with my Dell Inspiron Mini 10, not even the software that came with it. Information I thought was lost forever (my Compaq Presario C500 couldn't read it because it was created on an old PC), but this fine machine read it with no problem. I am very satisfied with this product, a must-have for any netbook, you will not regret it. Addendum: I don't know what the hell is going on. My…

Not easy to install and use!

The software that came with the external drive took over my computer. It took some time to uninstall this software and with the additional purchase of the software it works without any issues. Too bad the manufacturer can't offer any alternative software to get the drive working.

  • Durable finish
Cons
