Description of Irix Dragonfly 150mm πŸ“· f/2.8 Macro 1:1 Lens for Nikon

A modern and versatile macro telephoto lens designed for full-frame high-resolution DSLR cameras. Its fast aperture of f/2.8 facilitates shorter exposure times, while its moderately long focal length of 150mm provides an excellent compromise between the narrow viewing angle desired in macro, advertising and portrait photography, and the convenience of hand-held photography.

Great macro lens

My new macro lens. The manual focus and depth of field takes a while to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy to use. Very sharp

Universal camera lens upgrade

Ideal for head and shoulders portraits or the whole figure. soft background. The macro function replaces my macros Nikkor 105 and 200. At least as sharp as my F2.8 180mm ED. Especially useful on my Z 6 which offers image stabilization.

Fantastic and amazing quality

This lens is amazing. Period. If you're in doubt about the price, just do it. You will not regret it. Day and night between my shots with my previous lens, which was only $75 less than this one, but the Irix 150mm Dragonfly is way ahead of other lenses in quality. Here is an example photo of what I did.

Love love love this lens.

The versatility of this lens is incredible. I love it. The only small "issue" is the weight, but the photos more than make it worth it. I've taken some of my best photos with it. A bit of a learning curve given the lack of autofocus, but absolutely worth every penny. My son who loves photographing wildlife has never done macro photography and absolutely loves this lens. I had to force him to try it but it was addicting. I think I could get my own! I love this lens. 100%.

  • Ideal for a small home

Irix 150mm is an amazingly excellent lens

I decided to try the Irix lens range so I bought the 150mm and 15mm lenses. 150mm is very good to use. Sturdy construction, heavy lens, best used on a tripod, but it also works without it. The image is sharp, not as strong at f2.8 but perfectly sharp at f4. Manual focusing isn't easy in general, but the long focus travel really helps, and there's an extra dampener that's really innovative. No chromatic aberrations. Without distortion. Pure 1:1 macro photography. Good for portraits too if you…

Great lens! for camera lenses

I have always loved macro photography so before I started taking macro classes I started looking for a lens that I knew I would need. Stumbled across this lens and started doing a little research. I only found good reviews so I decided to give it a try. I'm very glad I did this. The fit, finish and overall aesthetics were amazing. 150mm gives me enough focal length not to be the center of attention. Clarity resolution etc was of the highest standard - quality in everything! It's more than…

Inexpensive Macro Lens

I bought this because I was tired of using extension tubes and wanted a reliable macro lens. This lens features manual focus, which can make handheld close-ups difficult due to the very shallow depth of field. The maximum aperture of f/2.8 is handy because you need a lot of close-up light to achieve a fast shutter speed. I took it from my hands to shoot bugs on bright yellow flowers in the morning and was able to get good results. out of hand even in light winds. Taken with Nikon D750…

Sharp lens but insufficient IRIX support and warranty issues

150mm lens is sharp, bokeh is pleasant. The build is solid, the manual focus ring is smooth and at F2.8 it delivers good light for a macro lens. Unfortunately I bent the lens hood. There's no replacement from vendors like Revain, or surprisingly from IRIX itself. After several emails, they confirmed they don't currently sell a replacement. Even the fine print on the warranty is suspicious. The warranty only covers parts that are sent to you after a picture of the problem is provided. This means

  • Elegant design

  • Periodicity
