Bosch DSB5013P Daredevil Spade - 13 Piece Set for Ultimate Drilling Efficiency Review

As a low voltage installer I have to drill dozens of 1/8 thick I-beams to route the cable. After only making 3 holes, the 1 1/2 bit broke even on medium speed and low torque settings on my cordless drill, despite going through very thin wood. I would not recommend these bits due to poor quality.

I used to have a set of Daredevil bits and they are amazing. Some of them are slightly damaged from heavy use. I ordered them to replace this set. They are not the same color as the originals. The thickness of the material is not the same, the shape is not the same. These are just not real BOSCH bits. These are Chinese fakes posing as BOSCH. They cut but are not as strong as real ones.

Well I'm probably using it wrong, or it's just not for use on PT wood, but the little screw tip pulls so hard it stops my drill with high torque even at slow speed. To be honest I'm not sure I want to use this in a manual drill press. The bits work, but I had to pre-drill a hole larger than the tip so the screw wouldn't pull the bit into the wood.

The first lace set I bought (Irwin) came in a cheap plastic bag which soon wore out. These Bosch bits are neatly packaged in a durable fabric case that will last. (I keep my saber saw blades in a smaller Bosch case that has withstood years of abuse and is still in great condition.) If you keep bits on the wall in your workshop, you might not care. but I always carry mine with me, so this case is a big plus for me.

I have been using paddle attachments for over 45 years. All of them have come a long way except this one. the theses cut through wood like butter and just keep going. When they arrived I hit the nail in the very first hole I had drilled. Almost sick with disgust, I moved on to the next hole and, to my shock, didn't notice any difference in hardness. Most spade bits only have a flat tip that prevents the bit from turning in the right direction when you start turning the bit. These drills have a threaded tip that is threaded all the way around that grips the wood and literally pulls the drill through the wood. This saves you almost having to push the bit through the wood. I find the design of these blades really imperfect. The tip is threaded so it penetrates the wood and pulls it in as you cut. It's just really hard on my drill bit and the drill bit can't spin fast and actually cut through the wood - it just rips it out of the wood. I found this Bosch 13 piece spade bit set to be very complete with a good selection of all the sizes I have on will use most often. Bosch sent me a few samples of these Daredevil nozzles a while back and I never got around to trying them until recently using them to drill holes for rough wiring in a Resi kitchen remodel. These are BETTER than Irwin Speedbor Max spade bits! I used Irwin bits and thought they were great until I tried Bosch Daredevil. I used a couple of these last weekend when I was remodeling my bathroom and they worked amazing! Smaller bits cut through wood and 2X4 studs with ease. Compared to previous Craftsman spade bits I've had these are excellent and very good value especially if you take advantage of the Bosch promotion. The only problem is that initially the promo was buggy and I had to add and remove items multiple times to register them, which was very annoying, I almost didn't do it.
