Great buy, very useful tool. I'm glad I bought

I bought Irwin C clamps (for welding) and Revane advised me to buy this vise. I used them three times a week on various items lying around the house. My Milwaukee Grinder M18 2783 got stuck and I couldn't turn the finger tight screw. After about three seconds, the vise disengaged from the hand-tightened screw. Thanks Irwin Wow, they've come in handy and I'm pretty sure I use them on a monthly basis for various projects. Great Irwin quality and what you should have in your tool box.

Pros
  • . Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Durable, easy to use

I use them around the house especially when working on the rotor heads of my large sprinkler system and sometimes on PVC pipe. I bought them for these purposes for a large bow of the head. They worked great with these applications as they were adjustable enough to hold the pipe and heads without leaving tooth marks, a problem I've always had with things like canal locks. I can't say anything about the use for heavy metal pipes and the like, but for my purposes I find the price-performance ratio

The quality is higher than expected!

Good. I have a lot of these pliers but I have to say for the price it's a steal. They seem really high quality/sturdy. They cost less than some of my other pliers and seem to last a lot longer. Not only that, they have an amazing range. For example, for one of my applications I had to press some bearings into a tight fit that was halfway up the tube. They provide enough range to get there and press in the bearings. You can also put a lot of effort into the tips! All in all I am positively…

Okay, this is the "new " Irvine, but they're great.

By "New Irvine" I mean new Chinese stuff. Not the quality you would expect from Irwin, but overall ok. Medium quality. But I saw these odd vise grips in a welding video and can tell you how flexible and versatile they can be. I only bought one as I have a fondness for any new tool that even offers remote added value. Well, I just ordered a second one. They can fit where a fat vise can't go, have wide mouths to work around things, and grip. . . Well, like a vise. You can't have too many clamps…

Difference in tool quality

I wanted to test a Pittsburgh wrench with an oil filter locking handle but instead Revain took me here and didn't bother to warn me, issued an Emtor warning. I have both Pittsburghs back to Revane. The Pittsburg has about a 1/4" set screw and the Irwin 3/8 has heavier Irwin stuff, so get that or an Irwin 9" chain clamp, 27ZR, or both. I have been buying hand tools for over fifty years and understand the quality and it seems that the older tools were better made. Irwin is a very good tool and…

These are real vices. Beware of copycats.

It's no secret that a vice is an essential part of every professional's and amateur's toolbox. This configuration is new to me, but I've seen them many times and been amazed at how comfortable they are. The jaw shape is suitable for all materials, from heavy plate to round tube blanks to channel steel. In all my years of work I have never seen a pair of vises fail due to manufacturing or component defects. Any mistake is usually the fault of the 200-pound gorilla overusing his tool. I expect…

An invaluable tool for removing stuck large plumbing fixtures.

One of the best tools. I have a 20 year old sink faucet and both stems of the sink handle were loose/broken, preventing me from turning off the water completely. Replacement was the best option. Of course, installing the new faucet only takes 5 minutes. However, as with any project, removing the old block is the hardest part. After a lot of work I managed to dismantle one of the handles and the bushing. but the other handle assembly just won't budge. I just couldn't get enough hold (no matter…
